Something I've become very aware of over the last couple of weeks is that someone declaring themself "trans" is immediately excluded from proper mental health provision. Willoughby, "Sophie Molly", Mulvaney etc are all in obvious dire need of psychiatric input - I've nursed people with less florid symptoms. Vanessa, mentioned in this update is another example of the absolute failure of psychiatry and psychology.
Well done Accrington Stanley, 500 followers is brilliant!
KJK is right as ever. The Queering of education and the targeting of children can only be described as evil. And I almost feel that the harsh sentence meted out to Lucy Connolly is also evil. She’s not a danger to society, there were mitigating circumstances and far worse offenders often get off with a warning or a fine. She’s being used as a scapegoat, a warning to the rest of us to keep silent and I blame Starmer for his ‘incitement’ to harsh sentencing. What a cruel and shameful way to treat a mother with an unblemished record. I couldn’t despise Labour more if I tried.
Yes, thanks Steersman…nice to hear an apology but it’s too little, too late. They should have listened to Norman Tebbitt. (Dusty has included the piece in a recent update but I can’t remember which one).
Ta. 👍🙂 But, just out of curiosity, you any relation to Bat Masterson, famous lawman and journalist of the American old West, though born in Canada (Quebec)? 🙂
I do know who Bat Masterson is since I'm a Westerns fan but I am from the Irish Mastersons - who no doubt led to the American Mastersons following the Potato Famine. Masterson sounds very English but is actually an Irish surname.
👍🙂 I remember watching the TV series based on his life as a kid. My hero -- had the set of six-guns to prove it. And later a "rifle", one that shot cork pellets if I remember correctly. More than a few decades ago. 😉🙂
But ICYMI from the Wikipedia article: "He was born to a working-class Irish family in Quebec ..."
Whole raft of Irish came to Canada over that period of time -- seem to recollect that the best friend of my ex's, who I've remained more or less friends with after some 35 years, was Irish, or her maiden name was.
And I have a grandmother born in Dublin or Belfast -- bit of a difference there of course 😉🙂 -- whose maiden name was Maxwell. You might have some interest in a book by one of her brothers, George Maxwell, whose own son was shot down in a bomber or fighter over the skies of Germany in WW2:
"Swan Song of a Rustic Moralist; Maxwell, George A."
Absolutely "barking mad" -- as Kathleen Stock once put it ... -- to even be asking the question. They might just well ask whether we could pass a law stipulating that the tides can only come in between 3 and 5 PM, Monday to Friday, 5 and 7 AM Saturdays and Sundays; that 2+2=5.
🙂 Moot exactly where the LGB movement -- with or without the T and the rest of the more or less disreputable characters -- went off the rails or crossed the Rubicon. Reminds me of a very old Playboy cartoon -- back in the 60s & 70s when one might reasonably say one read it for the articles -- that referred to the then current efforts to legalize homosexuality in the UK. Seem to recall that the cartoon showed a gay man expressing satisfaction at the passing of bill that legalized it, but that he wouldn't be happy until it was mandatory.
One can reasonably talk about consenting adults in the privacy of their bedrooms, but public displays of their predilections might reasonably be "deprecated". Scares the horses for one thing ... 🙂

Agree with that, Jeremy.
Shocking that Vanessa fell between the cracks so to speak
Dusty
> "... absolute failure of psychiatry and psychology."
Indeed. I'm reminded of the quip to the effect that the "cure rate" for "modern" psychiatry is not much better than that of an African witch doctor.

Thanks Dusty and well done. 👏

Thanks, TT.
Agree with all of that.
When I was a member I voted for Yvette Cooper in a leadership election and now I can’t stand her!!!
Dusty
Nor me. I’m ashamed to say I voted for Ed Miliband. 🤦🏻
Oh dear that may be worse than Yvette Cooper 😂
Dusty
😂 it’s close though.
😂
Some more grist for your mill 😉🙂 and ICYMI, something of an apology from a Telegraph columnist and erstwhile Labour MP:
"Mea culpa: my part in the rise of the trans cult; The Gender Recognition Bill looked harmless enough. If only I'd known. . ."
https://tomharris2.substack.com/p/mea-culpa-my-part-in-the-rise-of
Particularly noteworthy is this bit:
TH: Parliament was about to legislate, for the first time in its history, to allow people to lie."
And not just "allow", but to be complicit in and a party to such lies.
"Live not by lies", and all that. Should be hell to pay by all those who contributed in any way to it.

Here it is 😊( headed Mea culpa, towards end):

Yeah. But some more grist for your mill, something from "out here in the colonies" 😉🙂 which ties in with TH's apology and my quote of him:
"Should it be possible for an individual to change their legal sex?"

“What's the point of Pride?” Goeth before a fall?
Here's hoping 😊

Agreed. I’ve little more to add except hear, hear! (it was my birthday yesterday)
