500 updates in two years is impressive! I know a little about the amount of work it takes, as I’m still working on doing a roundup of 2024 from just my own blogs, and it’s gruelling. Of course, I should start it sooner, which would make it less of an onerous job of it - maybe this year - lol!
It’s a great variety of films for the top 7 places, Dusty. Glad to see musical & comedy as well as drama. I haven’t seen ‘Lord of the Rings’ or ‘The Green Mile’ but love ‘Casablanca’ & ‘Some Like it Hot’. Thanks very much.
I must rewatch the Green mile although I always greet as the endings always the same , poor John 🥹
I’ve been watching reruns of Gary tank commander and chewing the fat
My best one so far is when the big man’s maw gets a new phone with a Stanley knife taped to it so she can ‘ chib ye and phone for an ambulance at the same ‘ typical glesga banter
I like the way they didn't re-shoot but kept in the obviously unscheduled involvement of the old fella. The video went viral some years ago! I just double checked and it has over 4m views!!!!! I'm not envious or anything...
Yes, poor John...but Mr Jingles lived on😃
Gary Tank Commander is a new one on me! Sounds good.
The cat is very eccentric but I think perhaps all cats are a bit bonkers?
Forgot to mention the picture of your cat looking at your Christmas tree rather ominously. We had a cat climb our tree and pull it over once. And I agree, cats are a bit bonkers.
He just flicked some of the baubles and decorations and then got bored (luckily) but has been kipping next to the tree - he obviously likes it. He is kipping in the empty box that you will see in the photo!!??
JL had a video at the end of a recent edition with cats knocking over Christmas Trees!
My oldest pug used to sit on the arm of the couch and try to bat the ornaments off , I think she’s part cat - she tries to scrape over her poop too - jokes on her my garden is astroturf ! 🤣
When I was a young man in London I used to go and see Billy Connolly at the London Palladium. Here he is doing a ...ahem...slightly different version of Tell Laura I Love Her
O Lordy that’s just reminded me how much I loved billy before he married that American / Canadian or whatever twat she was , my list of old viewings is getting longer 😀
🎉congratulations Dusty. 500 updates! You deserve a 🎖️for ‘Services to Sanity’. Nice idea for film recommendations too; I’ll have to look up the ones I don’t know.
Congratulations on this landmark, Dusty! It's a bit depressing that there is enough to write about regarding genderwoo, that an average of just under five updates a week is even possible, though. 500 updates in 52 weeks is a prodigious output, even if it just wrote itself (which I know it doesn't).
A great list of movies, there. I haven't seen "Three Billboards" - I have two or three Frances McDormand films I need to catch up on. "Nomadland" keeps staring balefully from my saved list!
"A Song is Born" is a Danny Kaye movie from 1948, and stars Virginia Mayo and a host of Big Band leaders and orchestras including Louis Armstrong and Benny Goodman. It is a real feelgood movie! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Song_Is_Born
I have actually slowed down to about 3 a week but I find that if I slow down more than that I end up drowned in material!!
I love the Martin McDonagh films and recommend them all apart from Seven Serpents which is a real turkey and you can skip! However I also haven't yet seen Nomadland which as you say stars McDormand but is not a McDonagh film. McDormand is married to one of the Coen brothers BTW.
Thanks re A Song Is Born. I will be moving one at a time and alphabetically through the nominated films that didn't make the final seven so we will get to it😄
I also said I hadn't heard of Life Is Beautiful but I have now remembered it! It is, believe it or not, a comedy drama about a man who ends up in a concentration camp with his son!!

Nice dance moves 😀
Looking forward to your round up, Katrina.
That's not actually me in the video BTW, I'm just saying that, if I was there, I would have joined in as well😄
Dusty
Haha - maybe you'll have to show us your dance moves, then :-)
OK, Katrina, here I am doing the Tango
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p64QC00mqGs&t=7s
OK you may have noticed that that is from one of the nominated films, Scent of a Woman. Thanks to my friend, Siobhan for that nomination😄
I've just worked out from that clip that Al Pacino is a left hander BTW. Any Sherlock Holmes out there😄
OK no Sherlock's out there😂
Pacino has his watch on his right wrist. Sure sign of a leftie😁
Dusty
That was fabulous , my longer list is getting longer , just as well todays tv is shite - that does not count as a sweary word btw !
Gosh - not too shabby for a blind man 😄
Wonderful. Pacino is superb as a blind man there. I’ve never seen the whole film, thanks Siobhan, I must watch it.

You’re welcome, Liz.
Yes it ended up a pretty good spread didn’t it!
Dusty
The dancing to 'Happy' did make me feel happy!
😁
I dance like that too, then I see the vids - me and wine need a serious chat 😂
Off to bed , seeing my alcohol counsellor in the morning , best lay off the baileys truffles ,hic
Good night, Petal
You do realise I’m taking the pish …..
Yes I did realise that😂
He’s absolutely no fun at all
I can’t take truffles
Ole twinkle toes Dusty !

😂
We have two 2-year-old cats. We didn't have a Christmas tree this year... 🤣🤣
Very wise, Jeremy😄
Gary tank commander is hilarious and extremely puerile 😂
I'll have to check it out😁
If you dig on YouTube you’ll find the full lot
Another funny Scottish sitcom is two doors down , all made when bbc Scotland was a thing, rather than the dross that the bbc is now
Noted both those down, Petal, thanks.
