Thanks Dusty. I was wondering what pay grade Isla Bumba was on since she seemed to have a rather tenuous grasp of relevant law/guidance for an equality lead person - your post reveals it, thanks. On that level of pay I would expect her to be capable of more than just emailing other NHS boards to find out what they were doing!
I totally agree, Barbara. You may have noticed that Michael Foran also pointed out that she was relying on the wrong piece of EHRC guidance!! She seemed to be very concerned about the estimated 3 'trans people' in NHS Fife but ignoring the rights of the over 8,000 women!!!!!
> "Dr Beth Upton, a trans woman [ Dusty - MALE!!] doc ..."
Indeed, though you might be more consistent by calling "Ms." Upton a transwoman -- compound word like "crayfish" which ain't. "trans woman" -- as an adjective-noun pair -- is more or less shooting yourself in the feet, conceding that "she" is a woman, i.e., an adult human female. Does not compute ... 🙂
"sigh", indeed. Though a few more "pithy" phrases spring to mind ... 🙂
But I think I misread that -- I'd assumed you were saying that and not someone at The Herald. Haste makes waste; mea culpa. 🙂
But apropos of them and in the same vein, you might have some interest in my open letters to some "journalists" at the New York Times, and at Slate who make the same "faux pas" (AKA biological illiterates or transgender ideologues):
"The crux of the problem is the too common use of phrases like 'transgender girls' and 'transgender female athletes' in the two Times articles, and the view, in the Slate article, that humans can 'transition from one sex to another'. While it is somewhat moot as to what is the 'essence' of 'male' and 'female', as to how to define those categories — particularly since too many so-called biologists and philosophers have been muddying the waters — the standard convention of mainstream biology is that, to a first approximation, it is necessary to have either testicles or ovaries to qualify for membership in those categories. In which case those 'transgender girls' and 'transgender female athletes' are, in fact, simply boys and males. And, by those same definitions, it is flatly impossible, at least with current technology, for any one of us to [ever] change sex."
Thanks. I had only sent them to the authors themselves -- email addresses from their "Contact" pages -- and not the Letters section of the Times or Slate.
Though I've been thinking of a letter to the Times itself, partly as a result of a couple of NYTimes articles that exhibit the same biological contradictions and cluelessness:
But yes, I too have noticed something in the way of a change in the wind there since Skrmetti ... 😉🙂 That second NYTimes article by gay spokesman Andrew Sullivan being a case in point. But I wonder -- Wanda -- whether that will extend to reinstating Pamela Paul? 😉🙂
I said over on glinner that the fragrant Theo could use his crowdfund cash for facials and lippie - he could use it on laser hair removal - clearly not on his male receding hairline ! —— oooomeoww
I was at the nurse today and he was moaning about his clinic times being cut - I just leaned over and said ‘ just imagine how much clinic time you could have if nhs fife hadn’t spaffed £220k on nonsense ‘
His reply -‘ don’t fucking start me on that shite ‘
Not a normal clinical reply but hey ho I’m not a normal clinical patient and have refused to see a twat with a rainbow lanyard - I didn’t say it was because of her lanyard , just because she was an arse - same thing really I suppose !
Too fecking warm up here lately 🥵 us scottishland folk are only used to one day of summer .
I made a comment that seems to have not got to you. It went something along the lines of " 'I don't remember' is obvious cynical perjury in this case. I wish it could be punished as such."

It is especially infuriating when they are reporting on a case that is all about ( biological) sex - it kind of defeats their own reporting!!??
Sigh

Good letters. Were they published?
You may have noted that the NYT has rowed back somewhat after the Skrmetti judgment!!

We shall see if they keep up their change of heart!!??

Great news. 🎉 We are at last winning, one court case/ tribunal at a time……she said tentatively. Thanks for getting this update out so promptly Dusty.
You're welcome, TT. Yes, one case at a time it seems!! Linzi's case against Newcastle United is also still rolling, of course!
Dusty

Great news on the achievements of two remarkable women! May they both go from strength to strength. And for their lawyers and supporters too.
