Gender Recognition Reform Bill not to continue in Scotland
Great news from Scotland! The Scottish Government have decided not to appeal against the judgment against them. Well done to marvellous For Women Scotland and all who campaigned against the awful Bill and also to the Scottish Secretary for blocking the Bill by use of the Scotland Act. I was working towards an analysis of the judgment but will pause that given this decision. If the Scottish Government decide to try again or if the Welsh Government ( very unwisely) decide to proceed with their draft bill, I will revive my analysis.
Rachel Roberts in Epoch Times ( Gender Reform Appeal to Be Scrapped in Scotland 20 December) reports:
The Scottish Government has confirmed it will not pursue further legal challenges against the UK government after it blocked the gender recognition reform that would have allowed children aged 16 to legally identify as the opposite sex.
Deputy First Minister Shona Robison told BBC Scotland the decision to drop further appeals was a "difficult" one, and said the Scottish Government will continue to defend decisions made by the devolved government in Holyrood.
Equalities legislation is not a devolved matter and the UK government was able to use a section 35 order to block the bill because it could have an adverse effect on protected groups across the UK, including women and children.

John Ferguson in The Daily Record ( Former SNP minister Ash Regan calls on Humza Yousaf to apologise over gender reform plans 22 December) reports:
The former SNP Minister who quit over botched gender reform plans has demanded Humza Yousaf apologise and warned women remain in danger in prisons due to “absurd” trans policies.
Ash Regan, who resigned as community safety minister and now represents Alex Salmond’s Alba Party at Holyrood, welcomed the First Minister’s decision last week to drop a legal challenge to Westminster’s block on the controversial proposals.
She stood down last year, saying her conscience would not allow her to support new legislation to make it easier to legally change gender, and at just 16.
The Gender Recognition Reform Bill was kiboshed by the UK Government on the grounds that it was outwith devolved powers and that it would impact on existing laws to protect women’s rights. The Scottish Government lost a court bid to overturn the decision this month and has accepted continuing its costly legal challenge is futile.
Regan, who stood against Yousaf for the SNP leadership before leaving the party, said: “The decision of the Court of Session to block the roll-out of the discredited Gender Recognition Reform Bill was good news for women’s rights campaigners across Scotland – regardless of their views on the constitution.
"When women across Scotland warned that their rights were threatened by this reform Nicola Sturgeon told them their concerns were not valid. Now that the highest court in the land has agreed with us, it’s time for the Scottish Government to apologise.”

This is a real FFS report. Excellent digging by The News Letter (which I have not come across before) by the way. I hope there will be a legal challenge to this. What about respect for the belief in gender critical views ( Forstater v CGD )!?
Adam Kula ( Queen’s University orders every single person on campus to comply with transgender names and pronouns or face punishment 26 December) reports:
Specifically, the university's new code demands that both staff and students use whatever name and pronouns an individual demands.
Failure to do so is now treated as bullying and / or harassment.
It also applies to anyone who makes "derogatory" jokes about transgenderism.
This new code covers not just staff and students but anybody who sets foot on campus, including outside contractors like cleaners, caterers, and suppliers, and anyone hired by them.

Teachers Sacked
I have two reports in this update about teachers who were sacked because of expressing gender critical views/ refusing to teach gender ideology and who are now taking court cases.
Kevin Lister writes about his own case in The Mail Online ( I was sacked after 20 years as a teacher for standing up to gender ideology. The new guidance is welcome - but we must go further 21 December):
It was around 11am one February morning last year that my two decades-long teaching career was unceremoniously terminated by an HR manager at the college where I taught A-level maths.
I was told, to my bewilderment, that I was being suspended with immediate effect over transphobia allegations and I was then escorted off the premises — never to return, as it happens, because I was later sacked.
What was the terrible, bigoted offence I had committed that ended my life's vocation? I dared to challenge whether my colleagues and I should be affirming a 17-year-old female student's assertion that she was 'a boy' without first speaking to her parents.
That morning, I realised I had become a casualty of the culture wars — the frontline of which is in our schools.
My real crime was that I had questioned a dangerous gender ideology that has infiltrated our education system and countless other institutions, threatening to undermine the very foundations of objective truth by telling children they can change their biological sex.

Epoch Times ( Christian Teacher Guilty of ‘Unacceptable Professional Conduct’ for Refusing to Teach 'LGBTQI Ideology' December) reports:
A Christian teacher has been told she was guilty of "unacceptable professional conduct" by authorities after she refused to teach "extreme LGBTQI ideology" at a Church of England (CofE) secondary school.
Glawdys Leger, 43, had been a specialist Modern Foreign Languages teacher for 12 years before she was sacked by Bishop Justus CofE School in Bromley, Kent in May 2022.
Ms. Leger, who is supported by the Christian Legal Centre, said she was "treated like a dangerous criminal" for refusing to teach LGBTQI lessons, which had been incorporated into Religious Education (RE) lessons, to year 7 pupils at the school.
Christian Legal Centre said that materials for RE entitled "Who Am I" included introducing children in Year 7 to gender identities such as pansexual, asexual, intersex and transgender. Ms. Leger had expressed her beliefs to students during a discussion on LGBT issues that "God believes humans are born male and female and that LGBTQI practice is sinful."
On Thursday, the Christian Legal Centre said that the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) ruled that the teacher was guilty of "unacceptable professional conduct." It stopped short of banning her from teaching indefinitely.
In a decision and letter sent to Ms. Leger and her lawyers this week, the TRA ruled that it could "not be proved’ that Ms. Leger had brought the profession into disrepute or that her conduct was "contrary to fundamental British values in that it lacked tolerance to those with different beliefs."

UK: Transgender Greens Candidate Reportedly Shared “Sissification” Porn Content On Social Media Board ( 22 December)
A trans-identified male recently selected to be a political candidate for the UK Green Party has prompted backlash after describing himself as a “proud lesbian” and accusing critics of “transphobia.” Melissa Poulton, previously known as Matthew Viner, has a disturbing history of sharing pornographic “sissification” content on social media.
Some critics also pointed to Poulton’s 2019 run for the Wyre Forest Council Elections while representing the Conservative Party. During his campaign, he did not yet describe himself as transgender, wore a suit, and still used his birth name, Matthew Viner.
Reduxx has now discovered a Pinterest account believed to belong to Poulton. Within his Pinterest board, populated when he still “identified” as male, Poulton had saved images related to sissification pornography, a genre which involves men being transformed into young women or even into little girls.
This is not the first controversy involving trans-identified males in the UK Green Party.
Just months ago, Heather Herbert, a trans-identified male currently standing with the Green Party, came under fire on social media after uploading photos of himself using a bathroom intended for women with disabilities to “dilate” himself.
In 2019, the party was accused of not properly vetting Aimee Challenor prior to allowing him to run for the position of Deputy Leader. Challenor, who was the party’s “equality spokeswoman” was a top contender for the position until it was learned he had hired his pedophile father to serve as his election agent.
At the time, Challenor’s father was out on bail after being charged for the rape and torture of a 10-year-old girl. Challenor nevertheless hid his father’s past from the public before it was discovered in what the party would later call a “major safeguarding risk.” David Challenor was ultimately sentenced to 22 years in prison for the horrific crime.
While under scrutiny, Challenor’s romantic partner was similarly embroiled in controversy after netizens discovered he had admitted to becoming aroused while fantasizing about children being sexually abused.
Meanwhile maybe New Zealand under their new government are going to overtake Terf Island!!
Transgender athletes could be banned from publicly funded women’s sport under new Government policy – NZ Herald (23 December)
The Government is threatening to withhold millions of dollars of public funding from New Zealand sports bodies if they do not comply with a push to separate transgender athletes from grassroots competitions.

The total unfairness of biological men taking part in and winning, stealing medals or stealing places on teams in women’s sport is a real opportunity for peaking people!! In this example the man breaks the women’s track record having previously come 19th in the men’s competition. I rest my case!

A transgender athlete sparked backlash after smashing the 300m women's track record at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Sadie Schreiner, formerly known as Camden, stormed to victory at a college track and field meet on December 8 at Nazareth University in New York, setting the new record with a time of 41.80 seconds.
Schreiner reportedly competed at the same meet a year ago in the men's category of the 100m, where she [ Dusty - HE - for heaven’s sake!] came home in 19th place.
