Great work by SEEN and agree completely with KJK on the BMA and the NHS. Also agree with you re: Cass. She had a brilliant opportunity to knock the whole child transition delusion on the head and she chose to fan the flames. No child is born in the wrong body whatever crap they might be fed by twisted adults, and she should have said so clearly. Instead she chose to continue with the insanity of experimenting on children. Unforgivable.
Re Cass, see what I say in response to Amanda. One way or the other Cass has argued for the floodgates to be opened and that, as you say, is unforgivable.
Firstly. Love the 13th Warrior one of my favourite movies with some of the best one-liners.
As for Cass I have seen so many hit pieces done on that Kuenssberg interview. Putting words into Hillary Cass' mouth that she never said. I watch the interview several times. Nowhere does she say that there are "True Trans", people with "Opposite Sex Brains", people "Born in The Wrong Body" or that a person can actually "Change Sex". What she actually said was "In amongst this group of young people there will be a very small group who's distress with their body and the gender associated with it will persist throughout their lives". That is a perfectly reasonable and factual statement. There have always been that very small number of people who's sex related distress has resisted psychological treatment.
Where I part ways with Cass is that there should ever be a medical intervention on these children. You are not helping these kids by interfering with their physical development, especially if they later do go down a medical pathway.
RE: The Gender Recognition Act this was the result of successive British Governments refusal to entertain gay marriage. If they had simply caved on same sex marriage the legal impetus for the GRA in the ECHR would have died a death.
The problem with Cass begins with her review itself. The review used the phrase 'sex assigned at birth'. This phrase really only makes sense if you believe that someone can be 'born in the wrong body.' That is where the hare started running. Of course Kuenssberg singularly fails to pin Cass down. The obvious question would have been 'so do you think there are really transgender children who are born in the wrong body.' The alternative is that she believes in gender dysphoria as a standalone condition that can be treated with drugs and surgery. I take the Miriam Grossman position that GD is a symptom not a condition. You don't treat a symptom, you look for the cause: psychosis; autism; ADHD; childhood sexual abuse; or just being concerned because they realise they are same sex attracted.
Either way, let's pretend that she is right either in thinking that there are actually 'trans kids' or that there are kids who will not recover from their gender dysphoria, she knows that the majority of the children expressing concern will 'get over it' of their own accord but she is willing to commit them to the clinical trial as well.
So for me, however you look at it, she is guilty as charged.
Fully agreed re the GRA!! See the LGB Alliance USA piece - some people like to 'blame' gay marriage but the GRA pre-dated gay marriage by 11 years!!
