For new subscribers, a bit of info about this substack.
We appreciate that the gender madness causes a lot of frustration, annoyance and angst so we try and mix in a bit of down time! I normally start with a film clip from a featured film ( see further below for the latest series).
Then we have references to news, analysis, opinion pieces, interviews and videos.
Then we have endpieces which will be a comedy sketch, a song or animal videos. Readers Liz and Tenaciously Terfin are in charge of the Endpieces.
This substack’s mascot animal is the Porcupine. To explain this to new subscribers and new readers see the two videos after the endpieces.
Now that I am retired and (obviously) without a salary any longer, it would greatly assist my hard work in putting together these updates if you could consider becoming a paid subscriber or else buy me a coffee. Thanks to my paid subscribers and to those who donate via buy me a coffee. Thanks to all subscribers for your support. There are always good discussions in the comments so please get involved in those.
I explained the new Dusty’s Film Series here:

Please let me have any suggested additions. I have been updating it with additions so this is the latest list for you to double check. Please bear in mind the original series of films.
Next up is Citizen Kane (1941) said by some to be the greatest film of all time. I certainly don’t know why it has taken me this long to feature it!
In a mansion called Xanadu, part of a vast palatial estate in Florida, the elderly Charles Foster Kane is on his deathbed. Holding a snow globe, he utters his last word, "Rosebud", and dies. A newsreel obituary tells the life story of Kane, an enormously wealthy newspaper publisher and industry magnate. Kane's death becomes sensational news around the world, and the newsreel's producer tasks reporter Jerry Thompson with discovering the meaning of "Rosebud".
In this clip, Orson Welles is Kane.
Ruth Warrick is his first wife, Emily.
Sunny Bupp is his son, Charles.
Thanks to three wonderful readers for suggested pieces.
Some of the linked pieces below may be behind a paywall.

The For Women Scotland Judgment - The Aftermath
Trans rights tactics: no debate; false team yourself with the LGB……and lie.
Jean Hatchet on Artillery Row in The Critic ( The lie of trans “murders” 09 May) writes:
Since the recent Supreme Court judgement ensured very simply that woman in the Equality Act was understood to mean “biological sex” and a “biological female” the trans sympathy machine has been working serious overtime.
The outpouring of grief from “gender identity” supporters, at a simple clarification of the precise meaning of a woman’s sex has verged on collective narcissistic collapse, with declarations of impending genocide and mass suicide. Alongside their declarations of total despair have been physical demonstrations of rage, violence and destruction of public property which seem much at odds with any professed vulnerability.
The prevailing narrative still held aloft like a torch by mainstream media outlets has been one of evil women, supported by a corrupt justice system wielding cruel power over a weak and vulnerable population of men.
I was contacted this week by a woman in Hunter’s Bar, Sheffield to express her outrage at the window display of Rhyme And Reason, a small independent children’s bookshop there, which sits opposite a primary school and a large park. The retail footfall includes hundreds of small children a day. The display in question is full of pink and blue “trans” bunting and books promoting gender identity ideology to children, such as “The Pronoun Book” and “Being a Super Trans Ally”. It is a political statement at a crucial political time, which is of course the right of any retailer, however unwise or unattractive to their customer base.
However, prominently displayed, was a list of 23 names of men under the heading, “The middle chain is to remember just some of the people in the UK who have been murdered for being transgender”.
Below this were statistics on “trans suicide” which said,
“92 per cent of trans young people have thought about taking their own life;
84 per cent of trans young people have self-harmed; and
45 per cent of trans young people have tried to take their own life.”
These are damnable lies. There is no way to talk about lying in a more palatable way and especially if those lies are being told to children.
It seems that the direct action of Jean and her partner in going into the bookshop and complaining may have led to this completely erroneous list being taken down. Well done, Jean and partner.

EDI Jester deals with archaeologists ( yes, archaeologists!!) arguing against the Supreme Court judgment. Add this to Whining Letter Gate.
Ripx4nutmeg on her regular piece on the Glinner Update deals with the BBC ( the Blatant Bias Corporation - any other variations on the acronym welcomed!) skewing all reports about the Football Association’s decision to get men out of women’s sport. She also looks at the usual gaggle ( draggle?) of drag queens on the BBC and the massive vote against the sensible proposed amendment to the Data Bill which would have prevented self ID being brought in by the back door - see further below. I am nicking her wonderful main image - see her bit on the Guilty Feminist for an explanation!

UK - Data (Use and Access) Bill
Here is a bit from the latest Women’s Rights Network newsletter ( 10 May):
Digital I-Depends
New digital ID denied opportunity to record sex because facts are “regressive”
Labour has been a little quiet about the impact of the Supreme Court ruling, and its proposed Data (Use and Access) Bill may be the reason.
The Bill facilitates a government-authorised form of identification. This “authoritative” ID will rely on documents that can be changed (passports and driving licenses) so the sex-marker will be unreliable, but relied upon.
An amendment (NC21) to require the ID to clarify sex as biologically female/male, and offer a separate gender identity option was voted down. Stella Creasy said the amendment was “a targeting of the trans community which is deeply regressive.” Facts and reality are now “regressive”.
The Telegraph uses Henrietta Freeman to explain the problems with sex-falsification for disabled people in need of intimate care, and Alice Sullivan on the consequences of unreliable sex data.
A KC who asked to remain anonymous said, “There are plenty of areas in which sex matters – it goes far beyond toilets. Of more concern is intimate care provision for people with disabilities, working in a rape crisis centre – people working in these fields need to know what the sex of the person wanting to work there is. They don’t want to know what their gender identity is.
“It’s preposterous to argue you can replace data about sex with gender identity. Gender is not a legal category so why would you need to record it? It would only be useful if you wanted to deceive someone about your biological sex and the whole point of having data and having this new ID app is to be able to prove things about yourself.”
The article includes Heather Binning’s view, that the new law will essentially introduce gender self-identification “through the back door”, which “flies in the face of the Supreme Court ruling,” she says. “It will be mayhem if it goes through as it is. If official documentation says a man is a female with the new system, employers and others will be inclined to accept it. This part of the Bill needs to be scrapped.”
Who Can You Trust?
I reported on the shocking case of Nicola Murray in the last update:
https://dustymasterson.substack.com/p/chariots-of-fire-the-courtyard-race
On her new substack, Kellie-Jay Keen writes further on this matter:
Who Can Women Trust Now?
The Nicola Murray Scandal and the Collapse of Credibility in Women’s Organisations
May 10, 2025
By any measure, the crimes of Nicola Murray are horrific. A woman who claimed to stand for victims — especially victims of male violence — has been unmasked as a brutal abuser herself. A campaigner who portrayed herself as a voice for the voiceless has now been jailed for subjecting a child to sustained cruelty, coercive control, and exploitation.
I felt physically sick when I read what she had done. Sick with horror for her victims — and sick with shame that I had given her money. Not just money from my own hand, but funds donated in good faith by hundreds of women and men who believed they were helping the most vulnerable. Money scraped together in the hope that it could build something life-saving, something true — a women-only refuge, a place of safety. Instead, some of it lined the pockets of an evil abuser. That is a weight I will carry for a long time.
And the worst part? We tried to give it away. We tried to put that money — every penny — into principled, women-only services. But door after door was slammed shut. We discovered how few genuinely female-only services remain in this country. Those that once centred women now centre gender ideology. Try to find a refuge that will say “no” to men who claim womanhood as a costume, and you will find yourself up against the wall of the Equality Act, charity regulators, and ideological capture.
We offered it to Aurora New Dawn — a substantial sum — only for the CEO to reject it on very personal grounds, as if women in crisis care about Twitter spats. She signed a horrid letter about me being “far right” authored by a man who compared me to Eva Braun. We learned, painfully, that many organisations would rather forgo funding than be associated with a woman like me and the rest don’t deserve it, as they centre men larping as women. So we turned to the grassroots. We gave what we could to smaller, women-focused efforts that hadn’t sold out. And among them, we believed Nicola Murray. Like many others, we were duped.
This isn’t just about her. It’s about the collapse of trust in the very structures meant to defend us. From the Women’s Institute to the so-called domestic violence sector, from social workers to NGOs — we are forced to admit a hard truth: it is almost impossible, under current conditions, to find a women’s organisation that is both principled and resourced. The Charity Commission doesn’t help. Public funding is often conditional on compliance with “inclusion” policies that erase our sex and undermine safeguarding. We are expected to pretend men are women and smile while doing it — or we’re told we’re not welcome.
Nicola Murray’s crimes are visceral, visible, and shocking. They rightly provoke horror and anger. But how do we begin to quantify the harm done by these institutions — not just to individuals, but to entire generations of women and girls? How do we measure the psychological damage inflicted on thousands of rape survivors forced to share support services with male-bodied strangers? How do we count the families broken by social workers and councils too captured by ideology to protect girls from abuse? How do we describe the betrayal of teenage girls told to shut up about their discomfort because “inclusion” matters more than their boundaries?
The harm of the institutions is quieter — but it is relentless. Bureaucratic. Sanitised. And overwhelming.

Australia - The Public Glamorisation Of Violence Against Women!!
Thanks to Feminist Legal Clinic for bringing this shocking report to our attention. This is not about gender ideology, of course, but I know my readers will want to know about this.
Bound, gagged, degraded: The eroticised torture of women approved for a public audience (10 May)
A new public mural in Fitzroy, Melbourne depicts a woman in BDSM fetish gear gagged and bound with ropes.
The chilling image of eroticised violence against women as ‘art’ is on display for the general public – including survivors of rape and sexual assault, domestic abuse, and children.
Responding to objections, the artist defended the mural as “empowering” and told objectors to “chill”.
But there is nothing “empowering” or subversive about normalising or glamorising violence against women. While the artist may view female subordination and degradation as the means to empowerment, ALL women are harmed by the promotion of violence against us, dehumanisation, and the message that deep down we desire violence and abuse.
Elite Non-Binary Nonsense
Oscar Davis is ….ahem…the first non-binary barrister and is based ( of course) at Garden Court Chambers in London! And his legal advice is no less bonkers. He claims that misgendering a non-binary person would amount to harassment under the Equality Act. This is nonsense which chimes with the nonsense of the concept of non-binary.
Firstly, Ryan Castellucci lost his case in the Court of Appeal to have his ‘status’ recorded as non-binary under the Gender Recognition Act:
https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Castellucci-v-Gender-Recognition-Panel.pdf
Secondly, so called ‘misgendering’ ( insofar as it might exist as a concept at all), and even if it refers to the characteristic of ‘gender reassignment’ under the Equality Act as opposed to being ‘non-binary’, is clearly not ‘harassment’. Article 10 of the Human Rights Act 198 protects the right to free speech. Lord Justice Sedley in Redmond-Bate v Director of Public Prosecutions [1999] EWHC Admin 733 stated:
'Free speech includes not only the inoffensive but the irritating, the contentious, the eccentric, the heretical, the unwelcome and the provocative provided it does not tend to provoke violence. Freedom only to speak inoffensively is not worth having. What Speakers' Corner (where the law applies as fully as anywhere else) demonstrates is the tolerance which is both extended by the law to opinion of every kind and expected by the law in the conduct of those who disagree, even strongly, with what they hear.
From the condemnation of Socrates to the persecution of modern writers and journalists, our world has seen too many examples of state control of unofficial ideas.'
So I would stick to your weird dancing, Mr Davis (he/him)!

Subversive Parenting
Excellent interview with Frank Furedi by Stella O’Malley and Mia Hughes. It covers: the influence of European Union funding; sexuality education; splitting children from their parents; ‘trans allies’ in the universities, the media and non-governmental organisations (NGOs); portrayals by such as Netflix; left and right don’t mean much anymore; a lot of the struggles are in the ‘pre-political sphere’; there is an ‘attack on the family’; children are being ‘made sick’; there is a demand for diagnosis; and Frank’s concept of ‘subversive parenting’ - freeing children from ideological capture and over-medicalisation. They disagree about the idea of the ‘emerging adult’. All thoughts on all or any of this gratefully received.
There is also Frank’s speech to the last Genspect conference in Lisbon. They all get to go to Lisbon! I go to Reformers’ Tree…or Nottingham…or Bristol - see previous reports. Actually, I would prefer to go to Reformers’ Tree etc

Great update, thanks Dusty.
I see LGB Alliance have sent a letter to the BBC calling out their homophobia, so hopefully they will get a response. And on a related note, Jenny Watson has made a formal statement on her Substack calling out Southwark council for denying her request for a lesbian-only space.
Jean Hatchet’s article was superb; blistering about the offensive sanctification of male ‘trans’ murderers & sex offenders. Nutmeg’s piece was also excellent, exposing the catalogue of ‘what about the men’ bollocks on the BBC. I suppose not that many people watch it any more, what with all the people cancelling or refusing to pay their licences. Thanks very much for, Dusty, for all of this. #DefundTheBBC #HoldTheLine #IStandWithKaren #WomenBewareTransmaidens
