In the midst of a raging war, a plane evacuating a group of schoolboys from Britain is shot down over a deserted tropical island. No adults survive the crash. Two of the boys, Ralph and Piggy, discover a conch shell on the beach, and Piggy realizes it could be used as a horn to summon the other boys. Once assembled, the boys set about electing a leader and devising a way to be rescued. They choose Ralph as their leader, and Ralph appoints another boy, Jack, to be in charge of the boys who will hunt food for the entire group.
Eventually Jack forms a break away group of boys who believe that a monster lives on the island which needs to be appeased with a sacrifice.
This is Number 15 in the Addled Brain Series!
Lord of the Flies, based on the novel by William Golding, is a good analogy for social contagion. Dr Lisa Littman coined the phrase ‘rapid onset gender dysphoria’ (ROGD) which relates to social contagion especially amongst girls ( leading to Abigail Shrier’s book Irreversible Damage ). Lisa Littman was amongst some of the great names in the field of gender critical/ pro women activism who attended the recent Genspect conference in Killarney. Genspect is an international alliance of professionals, ‘trans people’, de-transitioners, parent groups and others who seek high-quality care for gender-related distress.
Benjamin Boyce hosted a fascinating discussion with Stella O’Malley and Alasdair Gunn on the idea behind having the conference down the road from where the awful World Professional Association of Transgender Health (WPATH) were having their conference and also on the beginnings of Genspect.
Queens’ Speech
Linked very strongly to the subject of ROGD, in another excellent episode of the Queens’ Speech ( just in time for the Coronation), Clive and Dennis talk to Chris Barrett, co-director of chapters of Gays Against Groomers. They start off with Victor Madrigal-Borloz, the UN Rapporteur on sexual orientation and gender identity who urged the Scottish Government, previously, to pass the Gender Recognition Reform Bill. Mr Madrigal-Borloz is visiting the UK and, for a change, he met with some gender critical groups including the Gay Men’s Network. A step forward!
They move on to the cancellation of Joanna Cherry KC MP who was to speak at a comedy venue in her home town of Edinburgh. Some anti-women activists have been saying she has spoken out in many other ways so this does not, as it were, count as a cancellation. What a c**p argument! So, if someone is refused service in a shop because they are gay or lesbian or black, but they can just go to another shop, is that ok? Obviously it isn’t!! I reported on that cancellation of Ms Cherry here:

They end with a discussion about Gays Against Groomers. They agree that the medicalisation of children is an even bigger scandal than Thalidomide. Chris Barrett states that there are an estimated 22,000 children with gender dysphoria in his home state of Missouri. He says that they are keen to set up a UK Chapter so, if you are interested, go to https://www.gaysagainstgroomers.com/join
Sex Education
Lucy Bannerman in The Times ( Sex education group regrets web links to fetish material 03 May) reports:
An organisation that provides sex education lessons in schools has apologised for posting links on its website to “regrettable” material about fetishes, sex toys and introductory guides to “quick, rough, anonymous sex”.
The School of Sexuality Education has worked with about 300 primary and secondary schools to host age-appropriate workshops on sex and relationships. It is in a legal dispute with Clare Page, a mother from Deptford in south London.
When Page looked online at the organisation’s team of “facilitators”, she found website links that showed some of the people hosting the lessons also had commercial interests in the sex industry, such as selling sex toys and promoting pornography. One of the teachers described themselves as a “master fetish trainer”.
Well done to Clare Page for taking this case - yet another important legal challenge that is progressing.
As I have reported on before Denise Fahmy was pushed out by the Arts Council for expressing gender critical views and her tribunal case is coming up. There is an update from Denise herself here ( you need to click on download): https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=%21AEz2ERj3gbFL5cQ&id=7D1B0525309F23CC%213484&cid=7D1B0525309F23CC&parId=root&parQt=sharedby&o=OneUp

Mr Menno and Laura
Lovely and very interesting conversation between Menno and de-transitioner ( and artist and musician) Laura ( who features in Affirmation Generation and was at the Genspect conference in Killarney). This is long ( over 2 hours!) so you need to set aside some time! I get a couple of honourable mentions :)

Venice Allan did a livestream about the last Let Women Speak rally which concentrates on what the anti-women activists were doing mainly:
Times Round Up
Thanks as ever to Fingers for the cuttings. Just three to bring to you this time.
Oliver Wright ( Schools to be issued with trans guidelines for PE 01 May) reports|:
Schools should not have to allow transgender pupils to take part in competitive sports against children of the opposite biological sex, according to new government guidelines.
The advice, which is expected to be announced this month, will provide schools with a framework on how to deal with transgender pupils, while protecting the rights of parents to be kept informed about their children. It will also make clear that children who want to change their gender will be barred from using the lavatories or changing facilities of the opposite sex.
David Charter, Washington correspondent ( One in four at high school are LGBTQ) reports:
A record 25 per cent of secondary school pupils in America identify as LGBTQ, according to research by the main US public health agency.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ( CDC) said the total identifying as non-heterosexual had more than doubled since it started to ask about sexual orientation in 2015, when the number of LGBT students was recorded as 11 per cent.
One reason for the change was the inclusion of the new category of “questioning”, it said, reflecting the younger generations willingness to question previous norms.
The latest biennial survey found that 12.2 per cent of teens self-identified as bisexual, 5.2 per cent as “questioning”, 3.9 per cent as other and 3.2 per cent as gay or lesbian.
There’s a new sexual orientation for you! ‘Questioning’!!??
Matt Dathan ( Scottish Labour opposes Starmer on gender reform 10 April) reports:
The leader of Scottish Labour has told Sir Keir Starmer that the party should allow 16-year olds to change their gender if he wins the next general election.
Anas Sarwar told The Daily Telegraph that Labour should “learn the lesson from Scotland” by pursuing gender reforms - but over a longer period and protecting single-sex spaces based on biological sex.
That contradicts Starmer in a Sunday Times interview last week when he said: “ The lesson from Scotland is that if you can’t take the public with you on a journey of reform, then you’re probably not on the right journey.” Sarwar ordered Labour MSPs in Edinburgh to vote for Scotland’s controversial gender recognition reform bill, which would have reduced the minimum age for changing gender to 16.
The lesson from Scotland, Mr Sarwar, is actually that you should not go anywhere near self ID!! Let’s hope Mr Starmer has got that message at last!

The numbers identifying into different genders is horrific. My patience with those ignoring the problems or refusing to listen, has just about evaporated…. children’s ability to live a healthy life is at stake. And I’m including mental confusion due to crap taught at school. There’s no excuse now.
Well done for your well deserved mentions on Menno’s podcast. You deserve it.
