Of course, the trans rights movement have attempted to steal Joan of Arc from her true place in the Women’s Hall of Fame ( including a ridiculous play!) by trying to say she was a ‘transgender person.’ This, in turn, involves the presumption that a ‘mere woman’ could surely not have donned armour and led an army to a great victory at Orléans. So, according to them, she must have been a man.
Bad luck, guys. She was a woman. And in Kellie-Jay we have a new Joan of Arc albeit not clad in armour :)
This is no 13 in the Addled Brain Series!
And this is Update 99 - coo!! Please let me have suggestions for a suitable film clip for update 100!! :) I need to know the scene as well as the movie such as the opening sequence of Three Billboards:

Joanna Cherry Cancelled
Jack Walters on GB News ( SNP's Joanna Cherry CANCELLED after woke staff revolt over her trans rights views 02 May) reports:
SNP's Joanna Cherry
Scottish National Party MP Joanna Cherry has claimed she has been cancelled from an event in Edinburgh for “being a lesbian with gender-critical views”.
Cherry, 57, was scheduled to appear at the popular Edinburgh Fringe Festival in the Scottish capital in August but was axed from the line-up after staff said they were not comfortable with her views on transgender issues.
The Edinburgh South West MP has fiercely criticised Scotland’s Recognition Reform plans.
I note that the staff tail is wagging the dog again. Great that there is a sensible woman in the SNP ( I would add Ash Regan to that tally).
American Women’s Cycling
Sports Staff in The Independent ( Transgender cyclist Austin Killips sparks debate after winning UCI stage race 02 May) report:
Austin Killips - the earrings make all the difference don’t they :)
A transgender woman [Dusty - JustSayMan] has won a professional stage race for the first time.
Cycling’s governing body, the UCI, defended its rules around gender identity after the 27-year-old American rider Austin Killips won stage five at the Tour of the Gila, New Mexico.
Killips’ participation stirred fresh debate on transgender athletes, and she responded on Instagram: “After a week of nonsense on the internet I’m especially thankful to everyone in the peloton and sport who continue to affirm that Twitter is not real life. I love my peers and competitors and am grateful for every opportunity I get to learn and grow as a person and athlete on course together” [ Dusty - and grateful for the opportunity to cheat].
…
Olympic medallist Alison Sydor said Killips’ participation was “no different functionally than doping”, while fellow Olympian Inga Thompson accused the UCI of “killing off women’s cycling”. Hear, hear!

Barry is prolific as ever!
He reports on a Telegraph piece on the Information Commissioner’s Office ordering the Tavistock to produce e-mails between them and Mermaids which they previously said did not exist. Well done the parent who is pursuing this Freedom of Information request! Barry says they are lying. 100% he is correct! In Time to Think, Hannah Barnes interviews Dr Anna Hutchinson who used to work at the Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) a the Tavistock:
Anna Hutchinson was immediately struck by the influence of patient groups on GIDS - Mermaids and GIRES [ the Gender Identity Research & Education Society ] , specifically. ‘I was used to being in a team [ elsewhere in the NHS] where there was a dialogue with the patient groups that was a bit conflictual at times, where the NHS clinical team had to hold its ground a bit and say, “Well, this is why we’re offering it.” That didn’t seem to be happening at GIDS, she says. They weren’t holding their ground, explaining why they were doing what they were, presenting the evidence base. Instead, ‘ I just had a real sense that the GIDS management were bending over backwards to try and please.’ It felt ‘qualitatively really different’ (page 80).
So, unless these communications were taking place using a quill pen…let’s see the e-mails!

Barry moves on to an article written in Trans Times ( sorry, Gay Times) by Amy Ashenden of Just Like Us who says that they have carried out research with 18 to 25 year olds (!?) and discovered that lesbians are much less likely than any other group to be ‘anti-trans’. You start off wondering what she means by ‘anti-trans’ and eventually you realise she means ‘willing to accept a man with a penis can be a lesbian’! Barry does a good demolition job:

Identifying as a different race!!??
A guy called Aldo goes around UCLA Campus interviewing students about ‘transracialism’ as opposed to ‘transgenderism’. He gets some interestingly different responses to those two questions and these are discussed by Jay Fantom on Story Box:
Glinner Update
Always great to get the Good News Supplement from JL. I have mentioned before about For Women Scotland appealing the Lady Haldane judgment which is great news. Without repeating myself I reported on that here:

And here is the Good News Supplement:

Glinner also reports on the Leeds Women’s Refuge who have come under scrutiny following an investigation that found no recommendations were made, and no changes were made to policy, after convicted paedophile Katie Dolatowski resided at the refuge for 71 days:

Am I A Polar Bear?
Ooh, some heavy duty stuff as ever! Let’s get a bit of light relief at Dublin Zoo where the female Polar Bear (no, not the male one) has had a new cub.
One day the cub says to Mum:
Mammy, mammy, am I a polar bear?
Of course you’re a polar bear, dear!
A bit later.
Mammy, mammy, are you sure I’m a polar bear?
Of course you are!
Even later.
Mammy, mammy, are you really sure I’m a polar bear?
Of course you are, dear. Why on earth do you keep asking?
Because I’m f*****g freezing!
