A TIM geta a payout for the "distressed" caused by being referred to in his original name. What about female employees, patients and students who are being told their facilities are now open to males who identify as women, or laughably, as non-binary? Are they going to be compensated for the culture of misogyny and bullying they are being forced to be part of? Not only will they not be compensated, they will be described to as bigots and transphobes and be subjected to further bullying.

Thanks, Radhwa. Those are really excellent points, much appreciated and very useful to my thinking process!! This one's clearly wrong in my opinion but a bit of a curve ball. I am going to read the judgment and will report back.

At first glance it would appear to open the floodgates to all kinds of offence claims.

Well said Martina and JKR.

Hi TT

Yes concerning that it might lead to a proliferation of spurious claims albeit it is only first instance decision so not authoritative.

I'll report back once I've read the judgment because I remain baffled as to the legal basis for this.

I’ve only just watched the Jester video and had to comment on how powerful it is, not just the words but Barry’s delivery. I’ve made a note of it in case I ever need to play it to my granddaughter. I don’t understand how so few people really understand the misery and heartbreak this vile ideology is causing.

Hi TT

Yes it is very, very powerful which is why I specifically referred to it - I didn't want anyone to miss it!

I am just finishing tonight's post which includes my analysis of the 'deadnaming' case.

I note that JL's latest is now in and will look at that once I finish my post!

Thanks, Dusty. I'm going to hoard the figures about the 4-minute mile for those times it is necessary to make the point about men's inherent advantage over women.

I sincerely hope Kingston Council appeals that decision, though I suspect it will cut it's losses.

Hi Jeremy

Glad the figures are useful. There is also loads of info and stats in the books by Kathleen S and Helen J and probably the definitive text (though I haven't got around to reading it yet) is Sharrron Davies' 'Unfair Play'. However I think the 4 minute mile stats are something that may actually pull someone up short and make them think again.

I am afraid I suspect that Kingston will cut their losses as you say which is a shame but I will be wading through the judgment and will report back. It is only at first instance tribunal level so is not authoritative. But it will be quoted of course!! Grrr

I haven't read Sharon's book yet, either, but Helen's and Kathleen's were devoured long since! As you say, though, I think those stats about the 4MM are so startling they paint the picture quickly.

I seem to have a spare hour, somehow(!), so I'll go and look at the judgment too.
