Back to the Future Part II is a 1989 American film directed by Robert Zemeckis and the sequel to the 1985 film.It follows Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) and his friend Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) as they travel from 1985 to 2015 to prevent the former’s son from tarnishing their family’s future. When their arch-nemesis Biff Tannen (Thomas F. Wilson) steals the DeLorean time machine and uses it to alter history for his benefit, the duo must return to 1955 to set things right.

If Harriet Harman strips me of my free speech, I’ll give up my job as a barrister | The Telegraph (24 September)

Baroness Harman’s independent review of bullying, harassment and sexual harassment at the Bar, published earlier this month, sent ripples across the barrister community for its potential to lead to censorship and the repression of free speech.

Speech should only be a criminal or regulatory matter if a very high bar of offence is crossed. Certainly I don’t think I’ve ever crossed it. Yet, in our culture now, mere disagreement is seen as violence, and not having a prevailing view about issues such as sexuality or transgenderism is seen inherently to be bigoted.

The thing that really worries me from Lady Harman’s new report is recommendation number 24, which reads: “Regulatory enforcement action must be taken against online bullying and harassment,” particularly if it’s motivated by misogyny or racism.

But who is deciding an unknown individual’s motivations for a tweet? Somebody who is upset enough to get the whole apparatus of either the criminal law or a regulatory offence moving? It’s very dangerous.

Of course, there should be fetters on my speech. I’m a member of a regulated profession. That carries with it privilege, and I respect that. However, having a view about Brokeback Mountain does not bring my profession into disrepute. Neither does upsetting people through the lawful exercise of my Article 10 rights [to freedom of expression, according to the European Convention on Human Rights].

I think we all agree the line needs to be drawn somewhere. It’s about where we draw it.

Another facet of the report also caused me deep concern: “Micro aggressions such as… sarcastic remarks… may also meet the threshold of bullying, harassment or sexual harassment” it says.

Barristers are aggressive by nature because we have to be. We’re in an adversarial profession. The problem is when it tips over into unacceptable bullying and harassment, which does happen. I was a victim of it, and my profession did nothing to help me or to stop it. If the Harman report is designed to end that sort of behaviour, then it gets my vote, but I’m worried it’s going to sweep up a lot of casualties in its wake, and one will be Article 10.

For example, you’re not allowed to discuss immigration because then you’re a racist, and you’re not allowed to discuss gender identity because then you’re a transphobe.

In my daily life, I work in public law care proceedings, in cases where local authorities are looking to take children into adoption. It’s getting less rewarding, because resources are being cut and there is less help available for parents and children.

This is why reports and recommendations like Lady Harman’s make me so angry: they risk being performative and a distraction from the bigger, more significant problems in society.

UK - Children and Wellbeing Bill… and many other matters

EDI Jester warns about this Bill which is especially aimed at home schoolers and he mulls on the general mess at the moment. In response I have lined up a few things coming up on the legal front in the UK to try and build a more positive picture:

We await the judgment in Sandie Peggie’s case.

Linzi Smith is continuing with her action against Newcastle United football club for banning her for 3 years because of her ‘gender critical’ views.

We urgently await to hear from the Equality and Human Rights Commission who wrote to 19 organisations who had not yet complied with the For Women Scotland judgment. What replies have they received? If those replies are unsatisfactory, what are they doing next?

What about the proposed clinical trials on puberty blockers for children? Have the Government come to a conclusion yet re the ethical issues? If they go ahead, James Esses and Keira Bell have said they will take judicial review action.

Following Linzi Smith’s successful judicial review of Northumbria Police for getting involved with Pride, we need to know that all police forces are getting out of involvement in political matters. What is the position?

There is a fundamental clash between the common law right to free speech ( now enshrined in Article 10 of the Human Rights Act 1998) and hate speech legislation. We need legal challenges going forward. Ultimately we may need the Supreme Court to look at this issue.

We need to keep an eye open for the promised Conversion Practices Bill. Terfs have had plenty of practice under the last few governments in arguing against such legislation.

There are employment law cases still proceeding.

I believe that there are ongoing detransitioner cases but don’t have any details.

UK - A Letter to the Prime Minister

Excellent open letter to the PM from Dr. Joseph Chrysostom

Respected Prime Minister,

Subject: Deception and Harm in Gender Surgeries – Urgent Need for Government Action-Please save a Welsh mother from intense grief and distress.

I am writing to you as a medical professional with more than 35 years of experience to raise the gravest possible alarm about the continuation of so-called “gender-affirming surgeries” in the United Kingdom. These operations are being performed on otherwise healthy bodies, and they are being described to patients in terms that are false, misleading, and unethical. When money is paid from public purse or privately, this needs investigation for serious fraud by the agencies concerned.

Recently, a mother from a Welsh town wrote to me in great distress. She has a son who now claims to be a woman. Despite her best efforts, she has been unable to convince him otherwise. As any mother knows, she was present at his birth, cared for him throughout infancy and childhood, and knows the sex of the child she bore. She shared her anguish with me via WhatsApp. I reproduce her words here exactly as she wrote them:

“Thank you joseph, I believe my fight is over for ****** (her son’s first name), he had reached the top of the surgery list. I have been in the darkest place and can’t find my way out, my prayers are baron as I can’t think straight. I truly hope and pray that something will stop the NHS carrying out their evil very soon, before it is all too late.” (Tearful Emoji)

The distressed Welsh mother says she has been in a darkest place and can’t find her way out, even posted a tearful emoji alongside her message. Her spelling and grammatical slips are entirely understandable, given the level of upset she was experiencing while typing.

Her beloved son is now getting prepared to enter the operating theatre, where surgeons are preparing to castrate him, de-glove the skin of his penis, and then amputate his penis. This mother can only watch in despair, powerless to intervene, as these surgeons prepare to exploit and mislead her son—brainwashed by the new millennial gender ideology aided by some council run British schools. There is no rescue for the young, as zealots within this ideology and within the medical profession march him toward irreversible harm.

Respected Prime Minister, you are the Prime Minister for this mother as well. I plead with you to take immediate steps to ban these deceptive and, in my view, fraudulent operations, and to save her son - who is still a young adult, barely out of innocent adolescence. Even if an individual claims to consent, when that consent is secured through deliberate deception (such as the false promise of creating a vagina or vulva), it cannot be valid consent in law or ethics.

This mother has no access to legal help to stop or delay her son’s impending mutilating surgery due to financial difficulties. She is crying out for help. The Welsh Government appears unable, and/or unwilling to close gender clinics or halt these procedures despite my repeated letters to the health care inspectorate of Wales (HCIW) and the cabinet health secretary of the Welsh government.

I ask you, Prime Minister: will your government in Westminster act decisively to prevent this young man’s surgery and bring relief to his heartbroken Welsh mother? Or will your cabinet ministers as well as those in the Welsh government continue to look the other way, as though it does not matter so long as it is not their own adolescent child, (age 18 to 25)/young adult (age 26 to 32) or relative? I know of many families and mothers across the country who are suffering deeply because of these unethical surgical malpractices. They are looking to your leadership to put an end to these operations and protect their children who are now young adults from irreversible harm.

I will explain below as to why I feel these types of treatments are deceptive and I believe they amount to medical fraud.

Vaginoplasty is presented as the creation of a vagina, but the procedure is very different. A perfectly healthy penis with no disease, is first stripped of its skin, then trisected longitudinally and dissected—an act reminiscent of quartering in medieval times—before being severed at its base with a surgical blade. Attention is then turned to the equally healthy testicles (which have no escape now), which are cut, detached, and removed without hesitation. Surgeons then cut between the urethra and rectum to fashion a cavity where no natural anatomical space exists in the android male Pelvis. The degloved penile skin is then pushed into this artificially created slit. The body obviously recognises this slit as a wound and quite correctly not as a vagina and tries to narrow it and heal it from all sides. The detached normal Penis and Testicles are mercilessly incinerated without even a chance for the well-deserved histopathological examination. (The last chance for these organs to prove that they were normal, innocent and should not have been mistreated and obliterated).

What results is not a vagina, but a surgically constructed wound, lined with skin rather than vaginal mucosa or true vaginal structures. This man-made slit requires constant, often painful dilatation; it produces no natural secretions; and it carries lifelong risks of infection, foul odour, narrowing, and even urinary or faecal fistulas. Anatomically, physiologically, biochemically, and microbiologically, it is not a vagina. Any knowledgeable unbiased anatomist, physiologist, biochemist, or microbiologist will confirm this fact. The pseudo structure these surgeons create can be more accurately described as a “deep surgical wound,” and the procedure itself should rightly be termed “Perineal Woundoplasty,” which are far more appropriate and truthful descriptions.

All of this is carried out on perfectly healthy young men, often adolescents, who should be focusing on education or apprenticeships. Instead, they are subjected to a surgery for which the preparation, outcomes, and complications have the potential to derail their training, destroy their careers, and jeopardise their future economic well-being. Even more alarming, they may face lifelong morbidity - or even mortality - because of this dangerous procedure. Prime Minister, is it truly civilised to perform such operations on healthy human beings, or are we reverting to the brutality of medieval times?

Similarly, in phalloplasty, normal young women are told that a penis will be constructed. What is made is a “skin and fat flap mound” - usually taken from the forearm or thigh—which is tubed and attached in the groin. There is no erectile tissue, no capacity to secrete nitric oxide and dilate the blood vessels for natural erection, no possibility of physiological emission or ejaculation. Anatomically, Physiologically and Biochemically this mound-like structure they attempt to create is certainly NOT a Penis. Hence This is a falsehood operation and misleading to the point of fraud.

The situation is equally troubling with bilateral mastectomies being performed on young women diagnosed with so-called gender dysphoria, a condition classified in the DSM-5 Psychiatry Manual. These are otherwise healthy individuals undergoing the removal of normal breasts. Surgeons claim they can “masculinise” the female chest, yet this is biologically impossible given human genetics. In my opinion, never in the history of medicine such a medical fraud has been committed by medical professionals on patients with mental health conditions.

The prescription of cross-sex hormones without scientific evidence, promising that they can bring about an actual sex change is reckless in my view. These powerful drugs carry unpredictable, and yet poorly understood, long-term metabolic risks, including the potential development of metabolic syndrome. I fear that within the next decade or two we may face a surge of individuals, castrated in their youth, starved of androgens in male bodies, presenting in their thirties and forties with strokes and heart attacks. Such an eventuality would place an enormous burden on the acute medical services of NHS hospitals, compounded further by the surgical complications and consequences of these entirely unnecessary interventions.

No other area of medicine would tolerate such a breach of trust. Were a cardiac surgeon to tell a patient that a scar was a new heart, or an oncologist to promise a cure where none existed, they would rightly be condemned and struck off. Yet here, under the banner of “gender-affirming care,” such deception is being endorsed and even funded.

None of the professional bodies - whether the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh or of England and Wales - have either endorsed these procedures or denied that deceptive practices are occurring. The GMC, whose role is to protect patients and regulate doctors, has deferred to other organisations such as NHS England instead of investigating the alleged deception itself. In my correspondence, each professional body including the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman has passed responsibility to the next, creating a circle of deflection. That silence and finger-pointing suggest they are aware that something is seriously wrong.

I therefore urge you to take immediate action:

1. Suspend all gender-related surgeries in the UK without any more delay.

2. Initiate an independent inquiry into how these procedures came to be approved and whether patients were knowingly misled.

3. Hold accountable those responsible for promoting or performing/participating in these operations under false pretences. This includes anaesthetists, scrub nurses, surgical assistants and theatre managers.

4. Intervene to prevent further harm by regulating the actions of these surgeons, anaesthetists, health boards, and private clinics involved in carrying out these damaging experimental procedures on vulnerable young people.

Prime Minister, this is not a matter of politics or ideology. It is a matter of truth, medical integrity, and patient protection. I implore you to intervene decisively before further lives are ruined.

Dear LWS Supporters, we're excited to share the success of our recent grassroots action in Portishead. Your continued support makes these vital community engagements possible as we work together to protect women's sex-based rights.

Street Terfing Success at Portishead Marina

This month, our Bristol LWS Locals group organized an inspiring 'Street Terfing with our Table Top Action' event at Portishead Marina. Members set up an information table to engage the local community on women's rights issues, focusing particularly on advocating for single-sex spaces in local schools and raising awareness about gender ideology in education.

The response from the Portishead community exceeded our expectations. Residents of all ages stopped by to discuss concerns, share experiences, and sign petitions. Many expressed gratitude for our presence, with several mentioning they'd been looking for ways to address these issues but didn't know where to start.

"The intergenerational aspect was particularly encouraging," noted Sue, one of our Bristol organizers. "We had grandmothers bringing their daughters and granddaughters to learn about protecting women's spaces. This isn't just about today—it's about securing rights for future generations."

In New Zealand, there is a certain man who says he’s a woman who is relentless in his search for perceived offences made against his ‘gender identity’. To all appearances, he pursues this path so he can cause trouble for those he deems are giving it. This man is not unknown to many of us sex-realists, and indeed he has tried to come after me, and troll me, too.

“I just want to be left alone”, he cries piteously, whilst he subscribes to blogs simply so he can comment, whine, and threaten, and makes outrageous social media posts for public consumption. The only pictures you’ll ever see of him are woman-style soft and flattering, but make no mistake, this man’s behaviour is nothing like his pictures attempt to depict when hunting down those whose lives he seeks to decimate.

Māori woman Rex (short for Rexene) Landy is not alone in being the target of this man. Several others, both women and men, have also been the target of his relentless vindictiveness. Unlike Rex, many of them have been quite moderate in what they’ve said, but he still goes after them.

In an excerpt from the Reduxx article below, Rex doesn’t deny she’s very outspoken, but says has never interacted with this man directly: “I’ve never once spoken to him, e-mailed him, interacted with any of his accounts online, or wished him harm. Never,” Landy clarifies, acknowledging she often uses “offensive” language to get her point across. “I do not use the language they want me to use. I just laugh at these men. I tell other people to laugh at them. We need to laugh at these people – the naked emperor and his swinging balls.”

The time and oxygen given by the police to these men who say they’re women, simply to pander to their delusions and vendettas, is an unacceptable use of resources.

Statistics Show That HALF of Trans-Identified Men in Prison Are Sex Offenders | Eva’s Newsletter (from Sept 2024) (23 September)

Many Western countries are transferring men into women’s prisons and calling this violation of women’s human rights “progress.” Yes, this is really happening, and it’s been happening for a while. Actually, in some places, it’s been happening for decades. There did used to be some semblance of safeguards in place, mainly that the man in question was required to get “bottom surgery” before such a transfer could take place. While a castrated man is not a woman and has no more claim to womanhood than an uncastrated one, this at least created a barrier to entry and kept the transfers few and far between. With the introduction of sex self-identification, this is no longer the case.

When looking at statistics gathered over many years from different countries, a certain picture about trans-identified male prisoners begins to emerge: about half of them are in prison for sexual offenses. This rate is about three times higher than it is for the general male prison population.

The earliest data I could find on this matter comes from the UK and was collected by Fair Play For Women. In 2017, Fair Play For Women conducted its own analysis of prison inspection reports and concluded that roughly half of “transgender” inmates in England and Wales were serving time for sex offenses. This estimate was later confirmed through a Ministry of Justice Freedom of Information request which showed that 60 out of 125 trans-identified inmates did indeed have at least one conviction for a sexual offense.

Meanwhile, we were starting to see similar numbers over in Canada. By this time, Heather Mason, an advocate for women in prison, had started speaking out. In an important article for Women Are Human, Mason revealed that a meeting about the transfer of prisoners with “gender considerations” took place on May 23, 2019 (she also posted meeting notes to her X account). During the meeting, former Deputy Commissioner for Women, Kelly Blanchette, reported that half of all requests for transfers from male to female prisons came from sex offenders. This was in contrast to the 20% rate of sex offenses in the general male prison population.

Around the same time, data was coming out of New Zealand. I have found requests for information from the Department of Corrections which, when taken together, show similar trends to the UK and Canada. The first request, made in April 2019, was for a breakdown of trans-identified people in New Zealand prisons. The response showed a total of 43 such prisoners: 3 “transgender men,” 32 “transgender women,” 1 “non-binary,” and 7 “unspecified.”

A few months later, a second request asked for a breakdown of the offenses of currently incarcerated transgender prisoners. The response showed that, of the 35 prisoners who “identified as transgender” (so, excluding the non-binary and unspecified categories), 15 had a sexual offense.

In 2021, Keep Prisons Single Sex USA showed us that the higher rate of sex offenses among trans-identified men in prison holds true in the States as well. The group made a public records request to the Federal Bureau of Prisons and received data that showed the “sex offenses” rate among “trans male to female” inmates was 48.47%. This is compared to a rate of 11.2% in the general prison population (including both men and women) and just 4.71% for trans-identified females.

Doing the math, this means that 46% of trans-identified males, or men who identified as something other than male in Canadian federal prison, had committed sex offenses. Buttons also pointed out that 92% had been incarcerated for violent crimes. This is in stark contrast to just 25.8% of the general male prison population serving sentences for violent offenses.

In 2023, we also got a look at some data coming out of Australia. Fair Go for Queensland Women reported that, as of June 30, 2023, there were 65 trans-identified men in the Queensland male prison estate. Of that number, 55% were held on the most serious charges of sexual or violent offenses (compared to 48% for males and 35% for females).

Now spanning several years and several countries, these stats show us that about half of men in prison who say they are transgender are sex offenders. This is anywhere from twice to four times the rate of male prisoners who don’t claim a trans identity.

Becoming Tyler Robinson

That could be my son. This thought has been stabbing at me for the past two days since they identified Charlie Kirk’s killer. And, if I’m being honest, it’s been niggling at me for the last three years with every senseless shooting perpetrated by a lone, white, young male.

That could be my son. It’s not just that Tyler Robinson looks a little like my 19-year-old. It’s also not that he, too was raised in a loving, conservative home. No, it’s that Tyler Robinson, like my son, went from being a highly intelligent and well-adjusted (albeit slightly socially awkward) boy with a promising future to a radicalized young adult—and seemingly overnight.

Three and a half years ago, my son chose trans. Tyler Robinson chose murder. It is my belief that these young men (and all the other lone, white young male shooters) have a common starting point.

Let me begin by saying they are all culpable. Whether it’s invading women’s spaces or assassinating innocent souls, only they themselves are to blame for their actions. With that out of the way, I’d like to talk about what got them there. Because if we can begin to understand, perhaps things can begin to change.

When people throw the label “monster” on them, and the rad-fems dismiss all trans-identified boys as AGP creeps, and the ignorant paint them all as sexual perverts, I want to scream “BUT WE SET THEM UP FOR FAILURE!”

We have been telling boys for well over 20 years now that their base instincts are primitive and disgusting. We have told them again and again that their mere presence is a threat to women. Not their actions—their presence. I support the good that came from the #metoo movement (it was a needed correction, for sure), but a lot of damage came with the fallout.

Our boys became hyper-aware that every interaction they have can be misinterpreted and cast as suspicious. That it can lead to being cast out of friend groups, ostracized at school, labeled a misogynist. So when pubertal urges began in their teenage years, they were not only adjusting to these new feelings, they became terrified of them.

And that’s just the male part of their identity! They also absorbed and internalized the message that their whiteness carried with it a history of grave harm. In the last three decades, in a mostly well-intentioned effort to correct the wrongs of the past, our educators have taught a message loud and clear: white supremacy and patriarchal systems have harmed millions of people throughout history.

How could our boys not begin to hate what they saw in the mirror? They were born with two immutable traits that the rest of the world defines as threatening, two traits that put them at great risk for social rejection. For most boys, they find safety in a like-minded group of friends through sports or clubs or a music group at their school. They are safe because they are known (and there is strength in numbers). Their real-life interactions tell them they are okay, they are decent human beings, they are wanted. They are not a threat. But for our boys—our highly intelligent, sensitive, slightly awkward ASD trait boys—most didn’t have that safety net. Making friends “IRL” was never easy. And so maybe they scratched that itch online. They found their people in the virtual world. Some found it on Discord, others on gaming platforms, and still others in very dark recesses of the internet.

And here is where the problem begins to bear rotten fruit. Unlike their well-adjusted male counterparts, their real-life exposure to peer groups begins to stand more and more in sharp contrast to their online spaces of full acceptance. Virtually, they are able to tweak and massage whatever image they want to project. They cultivate the person they wish they really were. And so that internalized self-hatred? That deep shame over being white and male? It morphs into something extremely sinister. They stand at the crossroads of three radicalized paths: rejecting their maleness, fighting as a radical ally, or becoming the very threat the world says they are.

But let’s pause for a moment and remind ourselves of what else was going on during this era. At the same time that being white and male was increasingly becoming a social liability, the world began to lie about the mutability of one of those traits. Since 2010, there has been a massive spike in transgender-identification among late teens and young adults. While the largest increase was seen with transgender-identified females, the boys quickly followed—since 2011, the UK alone saw a 1,200% rise in transgender-identified males.

And it is no wonder! Back to our crossroads: these boys now had a choice to opt-out of their maleness. I am here writing in PITT because that is exactly what my boy chose. Four years ago, when our son was 15, our family experienced a deeply traumatic event that ended with the truly brutal loss of our closest community and a move across the country.

So how does this connect to Tyler Robinson?

It is my belief that these intelligent and sensitive boys, without a healthy way to reinforce a stable sense of self through peer interaction, had to find a way to survive their own existence. Whether it was a burning need to explain their suffering (brought on by social isolation or trauma), a desperate desire to literally rid themselves of those unwanted traits, or a fierce and tormented longing to belong somewhere . . . they did what they had to do.

“Becoming a woman” was my boy’s escape from self-hatred. With that choice came instant acceptance (and not just online). It also offered a ready-made explanation for his pain (bonus: no need to confront the trauma he had just endured!). For others, adopting the role of a “warrior ally” is their ticket out of self-shame. They fuse their identity so tightly with the cause against white supremacy and patriarchy that it tips into radicalization. And still others, in a huge, defiant f-you, throw themselves into the alt-right corners of the manosphere.

We all loved our boys well. We did not over-love them (one of the many accusations hurled at us parents). We saw their social isolation and stepped in, building them up as best we knew how. We sent them off to college, unaware of the depth of their insecurities, the intensity of their pain, or the fierceness with which they craved acceptance at any cost. How easily their minds could twist logic through mental gymnastics, bending reasoning around narratives that explained their suffering while shifting blame onto someone else.

And then they made their choices. Some “became women,” rewriting themselves to escape self-hatred. Some dove headfirst into alt-right white supremacy, lashing out in defiance. Some donned the armor of radicalized leftist warrior identities, fighting the very world that never fully accepted them. Different paths, same root. That’s the conversation we desperately need to have.

Terf Island Discs

Thanks to an excellent suggestion from Tenaciously Terfin, we have paused Endpieces for the time being and we are giving Tenaciously and Liz a well earned rest from their hard work. So , since 07 July, we have been running Terf Island Discs.

Several readers have chosen up to 4 songs or pieces of music each and we are going through those one at a time in each update. This is going so well that I am going to continue it a bit further and you can now choose up to 6 songs or pieces of music each. They need to be reasonably short. We can’t expect to have readers listening to the whole of Tchaikovsky’s piano concerto in B flat minor, albeit it is magnificent.
