I explained the new Dusty’s Film Series here:
https://dustymasterson.substack.com/p/empire-of-light-dustys-film-series
Please let me have any suggested additions. I have been updating it with additions so this is the latest list for you to double check. Please bear in mind the original series of films.
Next up is A Beautiful Mind (2001).
In 1947, John Nash arrives at Princeton University as a co-recipient, with Martin Hansen, of the Carnegie Scholarship for Mathematics. He meets fellow maths and science graduate students Sol, Ainsley, and Bender, and his roommate Charles Herman, a literature student.
Determined to publish an original idea of his own, Nash is inspired when he and his classmates discuss how to approach a group of women at a bar. Nash argues that a cooperative approach would lead to better chances of success, which leads him to develop a new concept of governing dynamics.
And the rest of the plot is very convoluted, so you’ll just have to watch it if you haven’t seen it before.
Russell Crowe is John Nash.
Paul Bettany is Charles Herman
Adam Goldberg is Richard Sol
Anthony Rapp is Bender
Jason Gray-Stanford is Ainsley Neilson
Amy Walz is ‘The Blonde’
Thanks to two wonderful readers ( see further below) for suggested pieces.

UK - Data Bill - Urgent Request
Here is an urgent request from Sex Matters in the wake of the Supreme Court judgment regarding the current Data Bill. I have written to my (awful) MP. If you are in the UK, please write to your MP.
Sorry for bothering you on the Bank Holiday, but we need your help to take urgent action TODAY.
The Supreme Court has confirmed that “sex” in the Equality Act 2010 means, and has always meant, “biological sex”. But as you will have seen, many organisations are digging in and resisting respecting the law. And the government is trying to bring in a new law that will bring in gender self-ID in practice by the back door, making it harder to implement and enforce the Equality Act.
On Wednesday the Data (Use and Access) Bill is being debated in the House of Commons.
What’s the problem?
The Data Bill will establish a new “information gateway” to enable people to prove who they are and facts about themselves online and using apps. It relies on data from sources such as the Passport Office and driving-licence authority as “proof” of sex. But these public authorities have not kept their data accurate. They allow men to be marked as “F” and women to be marked as “M”.
Unless the Data Bill is amended to block inaccurate data sources from being used to “prove” sex, it will bake in these practices. This is gender self-ID by the back door.
An amendment that would solve the problem (NC21) has been proposed by Dr Ben Spencer MP.
It is based on the principle that public authorities should not be allowed to provide digital “proof” of sex data unless they are able to do so reliably. Currently, just one source is accurate: the record of births held by the General Register Office/ National Records of Scotland (since this original source cannot be changed, even with a gender-recognition certificate). This is what should be used whenever accurate data about a person’s sex is needed.
There are more details and a template letter on our website. Please WRITE TO YOUR MP TODAY and ask them to SUPPORT AMENDMENT NC21.
Make sure to include your full address when you write to them, so they know you are a constituent.
Thank you
Maya Forstater and the team at Sex Matters
UK - Free Speech
Just one piece from the latest newsletter from The Free Speech Union (05 May) and, if you are in the UK, sorry to ask you to write to your MP yet again ( I have written - that’s twice in one day - my MP will probably be spitting blood!! 😆)
Help to scrap NCHIs by writing to your MP
The Conservatives will table an amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill abolishing non-crime hate incidents (NCHIs) – an initiative that the FSU warmly welcomes.
The idea of recording NCHIs against individuals was formalised in the 2014 police document Hate Crime Operational Guidance, which defined them as “any non-crime incident which is perceived by the victim, or any other person, to be motivated (wholly or partially) by a hostility or prejudice” towards a person’s ‘protected’ characteristic, such as skin colour, religion and sexual orientation.
The key word here is “perceived” – because “the victim does not have to justify or provide evidence of their belief, and police officers should not directly challenge this perception”. In other words, the threshold for an NCHI – until this guidance was revised following challenges in the High Court and the Court of Appeal – was that someone, somewhere has taken subjective offence to something perfectly lawful.
In the 11 years following the guidance’s publication, we estimate more than 250,000 NCHIs have been recorded in England and Wales alone – an average of around 62 a day (i.e., an awful lot of police time). And, remember, they can show up on enhanced criminal-records checks and stop people getting jobs.
One superficially persuasive justification for NCHIs is that they help police build up a wider picture of potential criminality – that they can reveal hotspots were community tensions are under strain and the police can then intervene before people start committing actual hate crimes. However, the Telegraph reported recently that “despite logging thousands every year, most forces have admitted they carry out no analysis of the data and so have little idea as to their effectiveness in detecting and preventing hate crime”.
No wonder that Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp has now concluded that “NCHIs should be scrapped in their entirety”.
We urge FSU members to email their MP, asking them to back the amendment – and we’ve created a template email here so you can do that in a couple of minutes. This is a golden opportunity to rid ourselves of this Orwellian scourge on free speech.

UK - Grooming Gangs, Lucy Powell MP and more…
I know that many of my readers want to be kept abreast of the grooming gangs scandal which was brought to the fore again by the release of the shocking transcripts of the judgments from the Oxford trials. This is outside the remit of this substack where, generally speaking, we concentrate on the Terf Resistance to ‘gender ideology’ and the fight for free speech, so I have just been directing readers to relevant pieces. It is vital that this issue is not allowed to die away again. The Labour Government should agree to a national inquiry.
Kellie-Jay Keen addresses this and the shocking comments by Labour MP Lucy Powell and related matters.
The States - The Gender Dysphoria Report
I reported on this very important American report here:
https://dustymasterson.substack.com/p/the-ballad-of-lucy-jordan-the-states
Excellent summary of the report by Bernard Lane on his substack, Gender Clinic News. Given that the UK Labour Government say they are still committed to introduce a Conversion Practices Bill, there is also a very detailed discussion of the possibility of clinical trials for children and the conclusion is:
The presuppositions that guide paediatric medical transition have not been shown to be valid; the nature, probability and magnitude of risks associated with such transition have not been distinguished with sufficient clarity; transition proponents’ estimates of the probability of harm and benefit have not been shown to be reasonable, as judged by known facts and available studies; and the risks of serious impairment that transition involves have not been shown to be justified.
For these reasons, administering paediatric medical transition to adolescents, even in a research context, is in tension with well-established ethical norms for human subjects research.

Bye bye, Academia!!
What’s that whining sound? Oh it’s just trans rights activists!! There are a few whining letters doing the rounds , one from celebrities and one from academics and a couple of others I think. Here is the one from academics. It is amazing that there are so many stupid people in universities. Some of them are described as Professors!!! Can I call myself a Professor? My favourite line was:
The Supreme Court ruling is not a victory for feminism; it is a victory for patriarchy. And when the patriarchy wins, everybody loses.
Let’s just unpack that, children. Keeping men and boys out of women’s and girls’ spaces is a victory for….men!!?? No, I can’t square it unless they mean it’s a victory for ordinary, decent men in which case I fully agree😃 By the way ‘when the patriarchy wins, everybody loses’ means that the patriarchy loses as well 😂
You’re going to need the Endpieces after reading this drivel!

The Hag’s Glen
I was trying to think of analogies to express the effect on me personally of the Supreme Court judgment ( and, ok, I know there are many battles ahead).
As some readers will know, one of my favourite pastimes is walking ( I am a 10,000 steps a day fanatic) and one of my favourite walks is across the Hag’s Glen in the Macgillycuddy's Reeks in County Kerry, Ireland. You head off from Cronin’s Yard not far from the town of Killarney and follow the cairns ( piles of stones), crossing two small rivers, to get to a steep ‘chimney’ called the Devil’s Ladder. At the top of the Ladder you make the final ascent to the highest mountain in Ireland, Carrauntoohil.
Before the judgment was like doing the walk in cold, driving rain ( which I have often done) and getting to the summit to find it is a ‘white out’ and there is no view.
After the judgment, a lovely sunny day and, at the summit, magnificent views.
You can tell me to shut up now😂

Pretend Medicine - Loss Of Fertility
Pretend Medicine is my new name for so called ‘gender affirming care.’ Lucy Leader on her substack, Bodies get in the way… looks at one of the most likely repercussions of the use of puberty blockers and wrong sex hormones, namely loss of fertility. She looks in detail at reports on ‘fertility preservation.’
Removing the Possibility of Normal from Children
Your “trans kid” is never going to give you grandchildren
May 04, 2025

One fact that the trans lobby tries very hard to hide is that if you have put your child on puberty blockers, the chances of them going onto cross sex hormones is nearly 100%. The cumulative endpoint of this is that they will end up reproductively sterile, due to primary infertility. Once they are chronologically adult, they will never have to wrestle with the question of “do I want to have (biological) children?” because they will be unable to produce eggs or sperm and as chronologically adult women, they will be permanently menopausal, so unable to gestate and carry a baby to term.
If as teens or young adults, people get cancer and need treatment or procedures that are going to affect their future fertility, they may be offered fertility preservation (FP) techniques in the hope of restoring their ability to become parents once they are older and returned to a state of good health.
This is only possible in those who have actually experienced their developmentally normal puberty, so excludes those children who have had their life course stunted by exogenous hormonal treatments, designed to prevent them from experiencing puberty altogether.

The Importance of Words
On her substack, Reality Bites Rex Landy writes about the importance of words.
The War of the Words
(We're at War: The Fight For Reality and The Words Are THE WHOLE GAME)
May 04, 2025
………………….
So now, more than ever, use the correct words. NEVER use ‘trans’ unless it’s followed by ‘vestite’. They are NOT ‘transgender’ there’s no such thing. It’s an ideological movement and once the verbal capture is complete, it’s harder to fight. So they are men. Not ‘transgender women’ they are men. They are not ‘transmasc’ they are titless women. Stop using the language of the cult. No ‘trans children’ either. Weed it out, refuse to say ‘misgender’ either. Or ‘gender’. It’s sex. And correctly sexing people is what we do - no such thing as ‘misgendering’. And so on. Do not let your mouth lie for trannys. Ever.
I hope the Hampstead Ladies’ Pool is given back to us.
I hope all our spaces, organisations, groups, sports and toilets get, and remain dick-free.

Thanks Dusty ☺️ and I’m thanking you for all your great terfing. You’re a ⭐️. (Liz and I do look very determined).
There are so many great terfs so I think I’ll just thank all the commenters on all the substacks. It really helps to know that there’s likeminded people out there. Life as a terf can get a bit lonely.
Thanks for the grooming gang mention. Labour’s mask well and truly slipped there. Much better to shut down debate with infantile abuse rather than admit that they’re up to their eyes in cover up.
The Hags Glen walk looks amazing.
