I’m back from the lovely wedding we attended and looking at the new, rather frightening political regime that faces us.
For some reason the film Unforgiven seems appropriate as the next choice in The Western Season.
Surely the greatest heroes are those who are flawed. Clint Eastwood as William Money ( not to be confused with one of the monster fathers of transgenderism, John Money) provides a convincing picture of a ruthless outlaw who has repented and transformed himself but, due to the failure of his small farm, is tempted out for one last mission. At least this mission is to help a group of prostitutes and against evil men!
Gene Hackman is Sheriff Little Bill. Spoiler alert: This is virtually the final scene.
“You are a cowardly, son of a bitch. You just shot an unarmed man.”
“Well, he should have armed himself, if he’s going to decorate his saloon with my friend.”
Please do make a suggestion for The Western Season.
Thanks as ever to two wonderful readers for their suggested pieces.
The Election Result
I think the Party of Women (PoW) did excellently given that they have only been set up for 4 months but, nonetheless, managed to field 16 candidates ( including Kellie-Jay Keen herself). Well done to the wonderful women and all those who helped them.
Most importantly: thousands and thousands of leaflets landed on doormats; the candidates spoke at hustings and in local radio and TV interviews; the candidates talked to hundreds of people on doorsteps and on streets. The word about the Terf Resistance has, thus, gone out far and wide. I understand that lots of women have subsequently contacted PoW asking how they can stand!
Here are the details of the votes cast:
https://www.partyofwomen.org/so/c1P22v0Jo?languageTag=en&cid=48434eeb-799a-4c66-9b9e-0566c4a1d4d9
Additionally, there were shocking examples of attempts to silence the PoW and here is the latest one as reported today by JL on The Week in the War on Women:
Sunday 7th July - Without Fear or Favour?
A Party of Women candidate reported a threat to Northumbria Police but officers not only dismissed and hung up on her, they joked about assaulting her themselves.
Liz Panton was the Party of Women parliamentary candidate for Newcastle East and Wallsend. Immediately before the general election she received a violent threat from someone online. She tried to report this threat to Northumbria Police.
The officer she spoke to dismissed her and hung up on her. Not realising the phone line was still open at the end of the call, the officer, together with two colleagues, insulted and swore about Liz, belittled her safety concerns, called her a Nazi, suggested she was deserving of the threat by distributing election literature and even joked about physically assaulting her.
You can listen to the recording here. This is the conversation:
FEMALE VOICE A: Ah she was being a total dick. She’s like “We don’t feel safe going out” which is why I said “What do you expect the outcome to be?” “Well I want a report into an electoral offence”. What I expected her to say was she wanted someone to accompany them. In which case I would be like “Well we haven’t got the resources to do it”. Like fuck off. But this is it. I’m not getting anywhere and I’m like “Well I cannot actually help”. She said they had a presentation and they were told that you don’t do anything if you don’t feel safe. And I’m like “But like I said, if you distributed your leaflet with views on that people aren’t going to agree with and she’s entitled not to”.
MALE VOICE: She’s saying there Operation Bridger told her not to. I haven’t told you not to. I’m giving you some advice. If you think you are in fucking real danger, don’t go out.
[NOTE: ‘Operation Bridger’ is a package of basic security services which were offered to parliamentary candidates in the lead-up to this general election due to the increased threats of violence against current and potential MPs.]
FEMALE VOICE A: Well she’s saying “I do think I’m in danger because [inaudible]”. I actually agree with some of her thoughts. But I obviously don’t go spouting them off and putting me face on the leaflet alongside it. Or if I did I’d have the balls to back it up.
FEMALE VOICE B: Well, look at Farage [inaudible]. Gets things thrown at him all the time. I don’t think there’s any real credible threat that you’re going to come to harm.
FEMALE VOICE A: Ah she won’t accept that because she’s made reference to getting punched. And I was like “She’s not. It’s a general Facebook post”. “It’s not on a private page, it’s public. And she’s tagged my leaflet in it.” And I’m like “But you were giving them out.” You cannot take back the fact that you were handing the fucking things out. I don’t get it.
MALE VOICE: If anyone is going to come and punch her -
FEMALE VOICE A: Me! I’ll come and fucking give you [inaudible / laughter]. Punch a Nazi! [laughter]. This is why I’m not voting.
FEMALE VOICE B: I want to kill them all.

Andrew Doyle explains why the election result was so unfair:
The culture war is about to get a lot worse
The Tories deserved to lose, but the Labour landslide will keep the “woke” movement on life-support for another few years.
JUL 05, 2024
Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner …. making pricks of themselves! ( easily done it seems).
Keir Starmer surely cannot believe his luck. He has achieved a landslide victory by doing very little. He received fewer votes than Jeremy Corbyn in 2019, and yet has ended up with a whopping 412 seats in parliament. The rise of Nigel Farage’s Reform Party has split the right-wing vote and ushered the Conservatives along to their worst ever election result, plunging them to even greater depths than the disastrous election of 1906 under Arthur Balfour.
This was very much a Conservative loss rather than a Labour victory. There is no great enthusiasm for Starmer, and his majority is an indictment of the “First Past The Post” system which, as I have argued previously, should be abandoned in favour of Proportional Representation. It is unsurprising that upon his victory in Clacton-on-Sea, one of Farage’s first public statements has been a commitment to campaign for electoral reform. His party received over 4 million votes and has returned only 5 seats. So that’s 1% of the seats for 14% of the votes. Compare that with the Liberal Democrats, who have 11% of the seats for only 12% of the votes. Most of us will see that there is a problem here, irrespective of our political affiliations.
Worse still, Labour’s victory will empower the culture warriors, those identity-obsessed activists who have accrued so much power already in our major institutions. While the Tory party claimed to be fighting a “war on woke”, all the while enabling the ideology of Critical Social Justice to flourish, leading Labour politicians have cheered on the culture warriors while pretending that they were nothing more than a right-wing fantasy. We have seen some pushback over the past two years in regards to the worst excesses of this movement, but all of this may soon be undone. Now that the identitarians have their political wing in power, we should expect a few years of regression.

Is Labour Crazy Enough?
JUL 05, 2024
First the bad news.
Labour looks set to achieve a record-breaking majority. The exit poll suggests 410 seats; more than the 393 Attlee got in 1945.
This also means some very stupid people are about to be in some very important roles. Take David Lammy who is slated to represent Britain to the world as Foreign Secretary. I can’t help remembering the time he took part in Celebrity Mastermind and promptly proved he was neither.
The audience watched open-mouthed as Lammy suggested the surname of the Nobel prize winning scientists Marie and Pierre Curie was “Antoinette” and that the 9 year old who acceded to the throne on the death of his father Henry VIII was…err…Henry VII.
It wasn’t just the history he got wrong.
Question:. James Gandolfini played a mafia boss called Tony in which TV series?
David Lammy: The Godfather
Question: Which English blue cheese traditionally accompanies port?
David Lammy: Leicester
You wouldn’t even want this guy on your pub quiz team. Never mind representing the country. Yet he cheerfully agreed to go on Mastermind. Who does something like that? A man who thinks men can grow a cervix perhaps?
The good news is that Starmer has already hinted in that subtle way Gordon Brown and Tony Blair perfected that Lammy is for the chop.
Boom boom.
Of course it’s not foreign affairs but in domestic policy that Labour has signalled its greatest ambitions. Since money is in short supply, its race, gender and other social justice priorities that might allow Labour to claim to be making a difference and keep its voters and activists happy. For now.
But that’s a strategy full of risks and here’s why.
For a start the problem with trying to appease that tiny woke minority who had to think hard before choosing between Green and Labour will quickly prove fairweather companions. And if we’ve seen anything from the LGBTQ+ contingent of the wokettes it’s that they cannot ever be satisfied. They’ll always want more; more than the general public don’t want.

I have seen others suggesting that Labour may just park the gender ideology matters. I doubt that. You have to take what was written in the manifesto at face value and also take account of those things ( such as the draft school guidance on teaching gender identity) that they may well simply ditch. Expect the worst I’m afraid and start working out how we are going to fight against this. As ever, all thoughts gratefully received.
EDI Jester looks, for example, at the Labour proposals with regard to what is known as the ‘spousal veto’:

So who are the new ministers we will be dealing with as we continue our battle?
Obviously we have the Prime Minister , Sir Keir Starmer, who finally came to a position of saying that (as he put it) ‘transwomen’ should not be allowed into women’s single sex spaces. I doubt whether many of his Cabinet colleagues will agree with that but at least we have some useful quotes there!
All the rest of the people I mention below are on the side of ‘trans rights’ with one possible exception which I will flag up.
The Deputy Prime Minister is Angela Rayner.
The Home Secretary ( police ) is Yvette Cooper.
The Minister of Justice ( prisons, the judiciary) is Shabana Mahmood.
The joint Ministers of Women and Equalities ( not quite sure how this will work!?) are Bridget Phillipson and Anneliese Dodds. Be worried, be very worried!!
The Education Secretary is Bridget Phillipson. Be worried again!
The Culture, Media and Sports Secretary is Lisa Nandy. Be worried yet again!
The Health Secretary is Wes Streeting. This is the one small piece of hope! Mr Streeting changed his position following the Cass Review and said he would implement it. We will see what happens next!! But don’t hold your breath!
As ever, JK Rowling has been central to our cause during the election campaign, and here she is again post the election:
Millie Cooke on GB News ( JK Rowling hits out at new Labour women and equalities minister for 'nonsensical' gender remarks 08 July) reports:
JK Rowling has dubbed past comments made by Anneliese Dodds on gender as "nonsensical" after she was announced as women and equalities minister.
After Dodds was appointed to the role, Rowling tweeted part of a transcript from an interview Ms Dodds had done on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour in 2022.
When asked for Labour’s definition of a woman, the transcript showed, Dodds said there are “different definitions legally around what a woman actually is”.
When pressed again, she said: “I think it does depend what the context is.”
JK Rowling / Anneliese Dodds© GB News
Rowling tweeted: “And if you happen to be wondering how I have the transcript of that Woman’s Hour to hand, it was sent to me by Dodds’ office after I publicly criticised her prevarication on the programme.
"They seemed to think I’d find her comments less nonsensical if I saw them in print."

Thanks Dusty
Am I right that Northumbria Police appeared in two of your reports: both the belittling of the Party of Women’s candidate reporting harassment, and the 12 year old being reported to Prevent. I wonder how many police forces are on the same page as Northumbria - very worrying!
Another western suggestion: The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (James Stewart, John Wayne and Lee Marvin!)
Thank you Dusty, a comprehensive report on the mess in tbe labour party, I think they are second rate ministers who hit the position for supporting starmer ( wonder how deep the splinters in his are today)? They are a poor bunch of activist luantics and chancers imo.
That poor young boy, really the police shoukd very charged with waste of money and time
