The Stasi In Ireland

Update 530. More Urgent News. #BeMore Porcupine.

I reported the other day on Gript News discovering that the Irish Police, An Garda Siochána had obtained an injunction against Twitter (X) ordering them to allow access to the X accounts for Gript News and their journalists. It now appears that at least 10 ( news is coming out all the time so could be more) injunctions have been obtained against X regarding various independent journalists and independent organisations. These injunctions are an attack on fundamental principles of press freedom and freedom of expression in general (Gript were present, of course, to report the protests) and show overreaching state control worthy of the Stasi, the East German Secret Police at the time of the Iron Curtain.

One injunction relates to a You Tuber called Irish Inquiry and their report on a protest in Coolock, a suburb of Dublin.

Wonderful Jana Lunden of Natural Women’s Council who campaigns about gender ideology and who we have often featured on this substack has also been targeted.

Albeit that it appears that An Garda Siochána have now backed off after X told them to get lost, this is chilling stuff. The very fact that they sought and obtained ex parte (ie. without notice to anyone) these injunctions is extremely alarming to say the least.

If you are in Ireland and have not done so so far, please contact your TD. Here in England I will be writing to my MP to ask that the UK Government inform the Irish Government that such action is not acceptable (I’m not holding my breath given how things are over here).
