As campaigners who spend a lot of our time fighting for women’s rights, we do like a strong female lead, don’t we? Well, here is a strong female pensioner lead in the form of Katie Johnson as the redoubtable Mrs Wilberforce in surely one of the best of the Ealing comedies. And great to have such a character who comes out on top in the end - but I can’t tell you more than that! This is number 22 in the Addled Brain Series.
Mrs Wilberforce is a sweet and eccentric old widow who lives alone with her raucous parrots in a gradually subsiding lopsided house, built over the entrance to a railway tunnel in London. With nothing to occupy her time and an active imagination, she is a frequent visitor to the local police station where she reports fanciful suspicions regarding neighbourhood activities. She is humoured by the officers there who give her reports no credence whatsoever.
She is approached by an archly sinister character, "Professor" Marcus ( played by Alec Guinness) , who wants to rent rooms in her house. She is not aware that he has assembled a gang of hardened criminals ( great cast including Peter Sellers and Herbert Lom) for a sophisticated security van robbery at London King’s Cross railway station. As a cover, the "Professor" convinces the naive Mrs Wilberforce that the group is an amateur string quartet using the rooms for rehearsal space. To maintain the deception, the gang members carry musical instruments and play recordings of Bocherinni’s Minuet (3rd movement) and Haydn’s Serenade for Strings. And as to what happens next you’ll just have to watch it if you have not seen it before!!
“It was a good plan except for the human element.”
That might increasingly be said of the Stonewall et al plan to take over all institutions and governments. This week’s human element includes ‘Emily Bridges’, Nancy ‘Sexual Racist’ Kelley, Andrew Miller (aka Amy George), Ed Davey, Shona Robison and a vast, deranged supporting cast. See further below!
Rowing
Oliver Brown in The Telegraph (Dismay as decision on British Rowing’s controversial transgender policy delayed 27 May) reports:
There is intense frustration and dismay among many female rowers at a decision by British Rowing to delay any changes to its hugely controversial transgender policy until mid-September at the earliest.
The governing body had invited its 31,500 members to vote this month on whether or not to ban trans athletes from the women’s category unless they were born female, in defiance of World Rowing’s guidance. But in a statement following a board meeting to discuss the issue, it revealed neither the outcome of the vote nor the preferred policy [Dusty - I smell a rat!].
This is very disappointing after British Cycling has just decided to ban transgender cyclists from competitive races ( though see further below).
Queens’ Speech
Great episode from Dennis Kavanagh and Clive Simpson as usual covering a vast range of topics:
Last week’s guest, Idur together with Dennis, Stella O’Malley ( of Genspect) and James Esses ( of Thoughtful Therapists) addressed an Icelandic Parliamentary Committee looking at their Conversion Therapy Bill ( unfortunately such proceedings are private so we are not allowed to know what went on but Dennis said that a good job was done).
Rumour has it that the UK Conversion Therapy Bill will be published soon. We wait with bated breath!
Very interesting discussion and examination of what went on with the allegations against Baroness Falkner and how the finger of suspicion points ( surprise, surprise) straight at Stonewall. Outrageous!! See my post last night.
Ed Davey, the Liberal Democrat leader, thinks that some women have penises. Dennis ponders whether Clive might have been sleeping with women all these years 😎 Clive gets his own back by calling Dennis, Luton Lil 😎
Trans identifying male cyclist ‘Emily Bridges’ thinks he is involved in a genocide after the decision by British Cycling. Typical that he gets all hysterical and throws out ridiculous accusations mainly because he would be unable to counter the enormous amount of scientific and other evidence which proves incontrovertibly that elite men will beat elite women in any sport. To give just one example, Kathleen Stock in her book Material Girls, reports that, in 2017 the women's 100 metre world record was beaten by 750 men!! Also see my report on this in the last update.
EDI Jester also deals with what he describes as a ‘hyperbollocks wibble goat’ 🤣

Child rapist, Andrew Miller (aka Amy George) is sent to a men’s prison. Scottish MP Shona Robison, Deputy First Minister, previously said there was no evidence that there were dangerous or predatory trans identifying males. She is currently avoiding questions I believe. Clive and Dennis ponder whether self ID in the UK may be dead. I certainly hope so!!
Sadiq Khan says that this year’s London Pride will celebrate the T and the Q. That has already been happening exclusively for years, Sadiq! Last year, as I walked with a friend to Birmingham New Street Station and we had to dodge through the middle of the B’ham Pride Parade, I explained to him ( to his amazement) how the Pride flag had been stolen by the trans movement and how the parade was now all T & Q and not LBG.
The Mess We’re In
An equally excellent session by Graham, Arty and Helen covering:
British Cycling - see above - though Helen points out that there are still going to be gender neutral changing rooms! Whattt? This leads on to Emily Bridges, of course.
The Rainbow Awards where Stonewall got a prize - the awards sponsored by a Saudi arms manufacturer.
Discussion of advances made on Terf Island and on trans propaganda.
Arty discusses the situation in Canada.
Graham extols the Hogwarts game - the attempts to boycott it singularly failed.
They conclude with discussion about Baroness Falkner.
1 = 0
Barry examines the Quality Assurance Agency telling Universities to embed critical social justice in to their mathematics courses! He concludes that, since the QAA are now an independent body, Universities should simply stop funding them.
This reminds me of what Helen Joyce, once a mathematician , has used as an analogy - if maths decided that 1= 0 that would collapse the whole of mathematics - this is what Stonewall et al are trying to do with gender identity - collapse biological sex.
Women’s Rights Network
As ever I recommend the WRN. In their latest newsletter:
Their Summer of Sport campaign - see them on Twitter.
The bad news re rowing and (partially) good news re cycling ( see above).
Park runs which include men in the women’s category.
Their sexual assaults in hospitals report being featured on File on 4.
And more on Baroness Falkner.
Let Women Speak
Unfortunately I can’t make tomorrow’s event at Reformer’s Tree. My wife and I hope to make the picnic at the end of June.
Poor Kellie-Jay appears to still be suspended from You Tube!! Does anyone know how we might be able to watch the event tomorrow on a livestream?
I want to be a woman
I know I have posted this recently but, especially for Emily Bridges ( part of ‘the human element’ referred to by Alec Guinness’s character) here is Monty Python:
I read a piece in the Guardian, that bulwark of faux liberalism and authentic misogyny, that referred to Bridges, and how her (sic) dreams of competing in the women's category had been ended. Yet they don't talk about the ruined dreams female athletes had of first positions and medals, which could become reality, if they weren't obligated to compete against biological males. They don't matter enough, their aspirations don't matter enough not when trans rights, inclusiveness and gross unfairness always comes first.
Bridges can't tolerate being told 'no', it becomes an 'act of violence', but he still gets a voice. I think this arsehole also made a reference to genocide. Anyone uttering anything so ludicrous should be immediately dismissed. He's not a moron, he knows he's talking bullshit, but he and others like him have been having things their way for so long, they don't have to modify what they say or how they say it.
No one benefits from hearing anything they say, but it does provide another window into the deluded, deranged and loathsome world of gender identity despotism that Bridges and his co-conspiritors are determined takes precedence over the one where, in general, women aren't reduced to body parts and clothing and LGB people aren't either an inconvenience or are another variety transphobic bigots. I'm wondering when this world, inhabited by the most marginalised and discriminated against people ever, never to be equalled let alone topped, will be told to fuck right off.
