Scroll down for a wonderful poem exclusive to this substack!
As we move into 2025 I will be featuring, to start with, and in alphabetical order, those Readers’ Choices for best film ever that did not make the top seven ( see Update 500 for the top seven).
Next up is The Fifth Element (1997).
In 1914, aliens known as Mondoshawans meet their contact on Earth, a priest of a secret order, at an ancient Egyptian temple. They take the only weapon capable of defeating a great evil that appears every 5000 years, promising to protect it and return it before the great evil's re-emergence. The weapon consists of the four classical elements, as four engraved stones, plus a sarcophagus containing a "fifth element".
And the rest of the plot is so enormously convoluted you’ll just have to watch it if you haven’t seen it before!
I like this scene because it has a cat in it 😁
Bruce Willis is ex-military cab driver, Korben Dallas. There is also a character in the film called Billy Masterson - Ha! We get about!
Thanks to two wonderful readers for suggested pieces.
Some of the linked pieces below may be behind a paywall.
The States - The Gender Ideology Smashing Executive Order

I was right --America's children are safer under Donald Trump
How Trump is rolling back gender ideology
Jan 27, 2025
After the 2024 US presidential election, I wrote a piece for this Substack, arguing that America’s children would be safer with Donald Trump than Kamala Harris.
Today, looking at what Trump is actually doing in office, I’m pleased to say I’ve been proven right.
On Trump’s inauguration day, a week ago today, he said this:
"As of today, it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders, male and female."
That such a statement needed to have been made at all by the leader of the free world is beyond telling.
However, this was a significant and desperately needed statement, given the way in which gender ideology has been rapidly taking over the West.
For anyone who thought this was all hot air, Trump quickly followed this up by publishing an Executive Order.
And what was the name of that Executive Order?
‘Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism And Restoring Biological Truth To The Federal Government’.
You can tell that Trump means business from the title alone.
‘Gender Ideology Extremism’ perfectly encapsulates the terror that has been inflicted upon children, women and our collective wellbeing —and which is still being inflected on many of us here in the United Kingdom and Europe.

The Grooming Gangs Scandal
Here is today’s recommendation from me. This may be why local inquiries are not a good idea!!!
The States - Eithan Haim
I reported here on Dr Haim who revealed how his hospital, Texas Children’s Hospital was secretly ‘transitioning’ so called gender distressed children.
https://dustymasterson.substack.com/p/the-end-of-the-rainbow?utm_source=publication-search
I am delighted to report that, following the inauguration of President Trump, the case against Dr Haim is being dropped. I trust he will receive some suitable compensation.
Nate Raymond for Reuters ( Trump administration drops transgender care leak case against Texas doctor 24 January) reports:

U.S. prosecutors on Friday dropped charges against a Texas doctor and self-described whistleblower on transgender care for minors, who was accused of illegally gaining access to records about patients not under his care at Texas Children's Hospital.
Just days after Republican President Donald Trump returned to office on Monday, federal prosecutors in Houston moved to dismiss the case they brought in June against Dr. Eithan Haim, whose prosecution had been sharply criticized by conservatives.
Haim, who made several appearances on Fox News following his indictment, had been slated to face trial on Feb. 10 on charges that he violated the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, a federal patient privacy law.
Ryan Patrick, Haim's attorney, called the prosecution's legal theory "novel." He said prosecutors agreed to dismiss the case following the Sunday resignation of U.S. Attorney Alamdar Hamdani, an appointee of Democratic former President Joe Biden.

Leaving The WHO
On his substack, Roots and Wings Frank Furedi looks at Donald Trump’s decision to leave the World Health organisation ( WHO - and see the last update re Kellie-Jay Keen’s video about globalism).
Why Getting Rid Of The World Health Organization Is A Benefit To Humanity’s Well Being
Since its inception WHO has politicised public health and has been in the forefront of underminingtraditional Cultural Norms.
Jan 26, 2025
I was delighted to hear that last week President Donald Trump signed an executive order withdrawing the U.S. from the World Health Organization. Consequently, the U.S. will leave this globalist institution within a year from the official notification to the United Nations.
I was even more delighted when I read last week that the Italian Deputy Prime Minister, Matteo Salvini echoed Trump’s sentiments and proposed a law to withdraw his nation from WHO. In his post on social media he declared that ‘Italy must no longer have to deal with a supranational power center’.
He continues:
Gender-affirming care, as defined by the WHO, encompasses a range of social, psychological, behavioral, and medical interventions ‘designed to support and affirm an individual’s gender identity’ when it conflicts with the gender they were assigned at birth. As noted by the American Psychiatric Association (APA), that identity can run anywhere along a continuum that includes man, woman, a combination of those, neither of those, and fluid. In effect WHO has embraced the premise of transgender ideology.
WHO’s obsession with gender and sexuality is bad enough. But it also plays an active role in promoting its ideology to school children throughout the world. It calls its programme of indoctrination comprehensive sexuality education(CSE). And it is certainly very comprehensive! It seeks to sexualise young people’s life to the point that their identity becomes synonymous with their sexual preference.
In 2010, WHO published a set of standards for teaching CSE that have also been widely promoted, including by the European Parliament. The Standards set out what WHO considers to be the key outcomes of CSE. Children are expected:
● to contribute to a social climate that is tolerant, open and respectful towards sexuality, various lifestyles, attitudes and values;
● to respect sexual diversity and gender differences and to be aware of sexual identity and gender roles;
● to empower people to make informed choices based on understanding, and acting responsibly towards oneself and one’s partner;
● to be aware of and have knowledge about the human body, its development and functions, in particular regarding sexuality;
● to be able to develop as a sexual being, meaning to learn to express feelings and needs, to experience sexuality in a pleasurable manner and to develop one’s own gender roles and sexual identity;
● to have gained appropriate information about physical, cognitive, social, emotional and cultural aspects of sexuality, contraception, prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STI) and HIV and sexual coercion; to have the necessary life skills to deal with all aspects of sexuality and relationships;
● to have information about provision of and access to counselling and medical services, particularly in the case of problems and questions related to sexuality;
● to reflect on sexuality and diverse norms and values with regard to human rights in order to develop one’s own critical attitudes;
● to be able to build (sexual) relationships in which there is mutual understanding and respect for one another’s needs and boundaries and to have equal relationships
● to be able to communicate about sexuality, emotions and relationships and have the necessary language to do so.
In her report on CSE for the think-tank MCC Brussels, Dr Jo Williams noted that ‘the priority given to children becoming ‘open and respectful towards sexuality, various lifestyles, attitudes and values’, incites a permissiveness that is tolerant of everything other than limits on expressions of sexuality as imposed by traditional religious or moral codes. In other words, what is being asked of CSE teachers is little short of the wholesale transformation of prevailing social norms.’

A Poem
The Lament of a Mother Lost
By Siobhan Spencer
In a world where shadows dance with light, I bore a daughter, pure and bright. Her eyes, once mirrors of innocence, Now reflect a different essence.
The winds of change, they did not spare, A tender soul, so sweet, so fair. Big Pharma's whisper, soft yet bold, With promises of a world untold.
Gender's fluid, they did proclaim, Erasing lines, reshaping names. A child's laughter, once so clear, Now echoes in a realm of fear.
She sought the truth in pills and scripts, A path where love and pain eclipse. My daughter, once a vibrant bloom, Now lost in ideologies' gloom.
I mourn the girl with dreams and play, Who danced in sunlight, free and gay. Now cloaked in a narrative, not her own, A story where she feels alone.
Oh, how I wish for days gone by, When her identity was not a lie. But wrapped in flags of new belief, She's lost to me, my heart in grief.
Yet love, my love, it does not wane, Though she's altered by this modern chain. I'll stand by her, in silent plea, Hoping one day, she'll find the key.
To unlock the door to who she was, Before the world made her because, Of scripts and slogans, loud and clear, My daughter, my love, forever dear.
Thanks to Siobhan for allowing me to publish this excellent piece first on this substack (this is not about Siobhan’s daughter BTW). Please spread it around.

What A Drag!
On the Glinner Update, Ripx4nutmeg reveals how TV executives remain obsessed with larping men and drag queens. I hope Ripx is right that the ‘trans movement’ is dying but I am not so convinced!
The zombie movement still stalking our screens
The trans movement is dying, but no-one seems to have told TV executives
Jan 25, 2025
Producing a film generally spans over five years, encompassing everything from initial development to post-production. Given that, we could be in for a lot more men’s rights propaganda in the form of cross-dressing chaps shortly, as the peak gender ideology years were probably about 2018 to 2022.
This disconnect between the entertainment industry and the increasingly sane real world has been laid bare by the fact that the film Emilia Perez, a musical about a transgender drug cartel boss, has won four Golden Globes despite very mixed reviews from both critics and audiences.

Endpieces by Liz and Dusty
Liz recommends watching this at slightly reduced speed.
Milla Jovovich also stars in The Fifth Element. As regular readers may recall I love her scene in Joan of Arc at the Battle of Orleans.

Thanks Dusty. That clip of the Council meeting gave me a knot in my stomach in frustration. This is how far the rot has set in. Depressing.
Great piece by Frank Furedi and well done Trump again. I didn’t realise just how far back the WHO aims were, to overturn western society. Sounds like more Marxist infiltration to me and looking at the aims of the Frankfurt School, we shouldn’t be surprised that they worked on a global level too.
Two great end pieces again, thanks Liz and Dusty.
But the piece de resistance (sorry, don’t know how to do accents on my ancient iPad), has got to be the absolutely beautiful poem by Siobhan. Thank you so much Siobhan. It’s so lovely to have something beautiful to read amongst all the gloom……and that’s not a criticism Dusty! You give us film clips and end pieces. 😁
