I probably didn't make myself clear I meant double mastectomies where not medically necessary, phalloplasties etc etc Even plastic surgeons have to comply with ethics!!
I agree, they’re completely unnecessary and I don’t see how any doctor could agree to do them. But if they’re looked at as plastic surgery (which I’m sure they’d say to use as a loophole) it would be very difficult to draw the line between those surgeries and other plastic surgeries. It’s a bit of a minefield.
Just about to read your tribute to Nutmeg, been out all day. It’s lovely of you to do it, it feels like the end of an era.
I think there is a difference between, for example, getting a job done to your nose which is purely cosmetic but hopefully won't cause you further medical problems and the gender surgeries which not only are unnecessary but (a) won't work because you can't change sex and (b) very often do have nasty further medical problems.
It is a great shame Nutmeg is going. Hope there is another wonderful woman waiting in the wings!!??
Certainly I think it should not be on the NHS but I don't think they should be allowed to do it at all. But first stage we need to stop any of the medicalisation of children but I would then go beyond that. How can these surgeons do this - do no harm?
A great array of pieces, thanks Dusty.
Not sure how plastic surgery on adults could be banned but there should be a much higher age limit for it.

Yes, I do see your point (sighs deeply) flipping gender ideology causes so many problems.
Tell me about it!! 😂
The tra Fannie’s (adults ) can do what they like , - medically wise , as long as it’s not on the nhs
Hi Petal

Yep , I was as clear as a mucky puddle , I’ve said before it should not happen at all , but hey big cash
Medicalisation of children boils my pish as you know
Yes that is , of course, the worst thing, Petal 😊
