I sometimes sit and imagine life pre internet which for all its faults has given us access to a wide range of news which we’d know nothing about otherwise. Where would we be without all the citizen journalists and the likes of Gript News? I think we’d have slept walked into 1984 and gender ideology would still be thriving and unquestioned.
So it’s time for a day of celebration for all the independent journalists. 👏 well done all and thanks Dusty.
Those of my friends who still read the Guardian and/or listen to the BBC present me with an initial problem in any discussions because they don't know the true story and, indeed, there are many stories that they are blithely unaware of!!!
At the excellent recent London demo in terms of 'reporters' there was me, Menno, Mary ( from Let Women Speak) and presumably Suzanne Moore given the article she wrote about it.
Steve and his family emigrated to Australia and I lost touch with him. I hope he is still alive, doing well and no longer being turned upside down in cinemas 😀
BTW do you remember the ice cream lady at half time!!!???
In the small town where I live we still have al active independent cinema built un the late 1940's , classic art deco design curtains and all single large screen. It's now protected and run by a local charity. I recently went to watch Project Hail Mary and was amazed they still have an intermission where they sell ice cream. I took me right back to my childhood. There is also a bar for the grownups and they announce a 5 minute warning before the film starts again so you can finish your beer, genius!
The internet is and has been a double-edged sword. As you say TT without it we would not have great citizen journalists. But we would also not have large number of misinformed, misled young people obsessed with gender. It connected and emboldened the perverted. Among many other negative outcomes of technology.
Just goes to show that you have to be careful who wealds that sword!
Karen Davis bases a lot of her pieces on her expeditions into the dark corners of Reddit. She can't put on any comments because any Terf who reveals themself gets kicked off apparently!
Big fan of Karen's especially some of her Reddit examinations. It's a shame she is a little less ascorbic since her restored faith in catholicism. she was funny as hell.
