Thanks once again to Rex Landy for the next film choice, namely Jojo Rabbit. This is a 2019 film written and directed by Taika Waititi, adapted from Christine Leunens' 2008 book Caging Skies. Roman Griffin Davis makes his film debut as the title character, Johannes "Jojo" Betzler, a ten-year-old Hitler Youth member who finds out that his mother (Scarlett Johannson) is hiding a Jewish girl (Thomasin McKenzie) in their attic. He must then question his beliefs while dealing with the intervention of his imaginary friend, a childlike, eccentric version of Adolf Hitler (played by Waititi). Sam Rockwell is Captain Klenzendorf.
Of the involvement of Sam Rockwell, Rex writes:
“Even in a Waititi vehicle Sam makes his mark. A cynical cog in Hitler’s war machine, Klenzendorf is a loyal soldier but you can see the doubt peek through. His every line, every gesture, display a weariness and the disillusionment of the foot-soldier that believed, but no longer. Look for Rebel Wilson [as Fraulein Rahmin] in this scene.”
The Horror, The Horror!
In Joseph Conrad’s great novella, The Heart of Darkness the last words of Kurtz are “the horror, the horror”, presumably a reference to the darkness that is possible within the human soul. In Apocalypse Now the scene is moved from the Congo to Vietnam and Cambodia and Kurtz becomes a rogue American Colonel (played by Marlon Brando).
This is by way of a rather circuitous introduction to the horrors unleashed on the world by the Gender Borg. I think that informing people as often as us Terfs can of these horrors can shift those who are sitting on the fence or those who don’t know about what I call the Terf Wars. All thoughts gratefully received.

UK - Misgendering
In the latest Free Speech Union newsletter (04 May) some good news for a change!
Misgendering will not be a criminal offence
A couple of weeks ago, I received a letter from Lord Hanson, Minster of State at the Home Office, confirming in writing what he said in answer to a question I’d asked him in the House of Lords: that the government does not intend the new section 4B of the Public Order Act “to make misgendering trans women, or any individual, in itself a specific criminal offence”.
In the letter, he assured me that “section 4B requires deliberate conduct, carried out with the intention of harassing or alarming the victim, and which meets a clear statutory threshold. The offence does not regulate everyday speech, disagreement, or accidental or incidental remarks, but relates to particular behaviours designed to cause distress… This clearly goes far beyond conduct that relates solely to transgender status.”
I thank Lord Hanson for his clarity. His letter should certainly prove useful if any FSU members are reported to the police and accused of an offence for ‘misgendering’. In fact, we should be able to get the police to dismiss such complaints simply by showing it to them.

England - Giant Breasts at Oxford!
Excellent discussion of the pervy Oxford lecturer, who we have been discussing recently, by Mr Menno and Tanya de Grunwald. I note that Akua Reindorf KC feels that the University allowing this to happen may amount to sexual harassment of the female students. All thoughts gratefully received.
The States - Mini Round Up x 2
Two excellent mini round ups ( mainly about the States) by Kara Dansky. The Southern Poverty Law Center, amongst other things, monitored gender critical groups and individuals. Now they have been indicted for using funds to fund extreme right wing groups:

The tiki torches, the white men with angry faces, the chants of “JEWS WILL NOT REPLACE US,” the murder of Heather Heyer.
I knew what side I was on.
It turns out that, at least allegedly, the entire thing was orchestrated by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).
According to a federal indictment issued on April 21:
“The Southern Poverty Law Center’s (”SPLC”) stated mission included the dismantling of white supremacy and confronting hate across the country. However, unbeknownst to donors, some of their donated money was being used to fund the leaders and organizers of racist groups, including the Ku Klux Klan, the Aryan Nation, and the National Alliance. The SPLC’s paid informants (”field sources”) engaged in the active promotion of racist groups at the same time that the SPLC was denouncing the same groups on its website. The SPLC also had a field source who was a member of the online leadership chat group that planned the 2017 “Unite the Right” event in Charlottesville, Virginia. That field source made racist postings under the supervision of the SPLC and helped coordinate transportation to the event for several attendees. In order to covertly pay its field sources, the SPLC opened bank accounts connected to a series of fictitious entities. The covert nature of the accounts allowed the SPLC to disguise the true nature, source, ownership, and control of the fraudulently obtained donated money the SPLC paid the field sources. In order to keep the scheme going, the SPLC made a series of false statements related to the operation of the accounts.”

Kara links to a very detailed account of the case by Edie Wyatt. Her main story relates to the Oxford fake breasts case ( see above) and her speculation about whether, if the lecturer was in the States, he could have been lawfully sacked. The problem there is the US Supreme Court’s 2020 decision in Bostock v. Clayton County where a larping male ‘transgender’ employee won his case of discrimination when he was sacked. However the Supreme Court failed to define what they meant by ‘transgender’ and that has still, to this day, not been explained in any further case. The Court now has an opportunity to fix this in the matters of Little v. Hecox and West Virginia v. BPJ. Those cases are about whether women and girls are allowed to have their own sports. Gender Theory Is Wrong
This is the title of a new book by Dr Paul Tyson. Gender Clinic News provide an extract looking at the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) produced by the American Psychiatric Association (APA). In my mind’s eye, the DSM is cooked up by the APA in a posh restaurant in New York and they then plot how to make it apply worldwide ( maybe they would use the same tactics as the World Professional Association for Transgender Health - WPATH). Miraculously ‘Gender Identity Disorder’ morphs into ‘Gender Dysphoria’ and then into ‘Gender Incongruence’ to avoid it being treated as solely a mental illness. But you still need it in the DSM so that you can get prescriptions from your doctor. Alternatively, ‘gender dysphoria’ is actually a symptom rather than a condition in itself and, with a symptom, you need to find the cause ( see Dr Miriam Grossman Lost In Trans Nation ). Indeed, EDI Jester and Kat Highsmith (amongst others) think that ‘gender dysphoria’ is actually non-existent.

An obvious and unambiguous harm that arises from the capture of mental health therapeutic norms by gender theory, is the sterilisation, puberty blocker-induced sexual dysfunction, and the genital and mammary mutilation of minors. This harm is promoted by mandating that clinicians deploy “gender-affirming care”, heavily pressuring parents to give their consent to gender-affirming treatments and even proceeding with puberty blockers without parental consent for minors in some cases. All of these radical harms have been authorised by the American Psychiatric Association’s (APA) fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5).
In 2013 the DSM-5 dropped the DSM-4’s diagnostic category “gender identity disorder” and replaced it with “gender dysphoria”. This radical diagnostic recalibration was accompanied by gender theory’s deliberate confusing of biological sex with psycho-social gender. The DSM-5 had a significant and immediately realised impact in validating what are now called gender-affirming care treatment models around the world, thus facilitating a pandemic of girls and young women with autism spectrum disorder getting onto the gender-transition medicalised conveyor belt.
The APA notes that the DSM-5 changes were made “to avoid stigma … for individuals who see and feel themselves to be a different gender to their assigned gender.” The APA goes on to explain:
“[I]t is important to note that gender nonconformity is not in itself a mental disorder. The critical element of gender dysphoria is the presence of clinically significant distress associated with the condition …
“Gender dysphoria is manifest in a variety of ways, including strong desires to be treated as the other gender or to be rid of one’s sex characteristics …
“Persons experiencing gender dysphoria need a diagnostic term that protects their access to care and won’t be used against them in social, occupational, or legal areas …
“[T]reatment options for this condition include counselling, cross-sex hormones, gender-reassignment surgery, and social and legal transition to the desired gender. To get insurance coverage for the medical treatments, individuals need a diagnosis … Ultimately, the changes regarding gender dysphoria in the DSM-5 respect the individuals identified by offering a diagnostic name that is more appropriate to the symptoms and behaviours they experience without jeopardising their access to effective treatment options.”
Firstly, there is no clear terminological delineation between objective biological sex and subjective gender. Functionally, the APA seems to have accepted a co-constructed sex-gender irrealism [ Dusty - a concept spanning philosophy and the arts that challenges the notion of a single, objective reality]. So much for psychiatry as an objective and evidence-based science. In the above APA explanation, biological sex is only directly referred to as “sex characteristics” and it is indirectly referred to as “assigned gender”. This is the ideological capture of the APA to non-scientific—indeed anti-science—gender theory.
Secondly, this is an activist justification for a profound diagnostic and treatment regimen change, rather than a clinical justification. Avoiding stigma and making sure that transgender people can get medical insurance for radical sex-presentation-altering treatments are stated reasons for launching the new diagnostic regimen.
