I had hoped to vault across to Thursday ( since I am out and about on Wednesday) but too much stuff is coming in plus I want to bring you the Sex Matters guide to responding to the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) proposed guidance…so here I am again!! No rest for the wicked!
We are now in Terf Month ( to counteract Queer Month) and we are featuring great speeches on the theme of women’s rights. Please keep those suggestions coming in. Please send a link if you can. Thanks to those readers who have already sent in great suggestions.
Next up is the indomitable Kellie-Jay Keen speaking at Let Women Speak in Glasgow at the time when Nicola Surgeon and the Scottish National Party were trying to push through the Gender Recognition Bill in 2023. See many early posts on this substack for the story of that and the end of Ms Sturgeon’s political career!!
Thanks to two wonderful readers for suggested pieces.
Some of the linked pieces below may be behind a paywall.
The For Women Scotland Judgment
Equality and Human Rights Commission Guidance.
We have until 30 June to respond to the EHRC consultation on their proposed guidance which follows on from the For Women Scotland judgment. Sex Matters have produced a useful guide as to how to respond. Please do take the time to respond ( I will be doing so in due course). If you have time, please try and respond in your own words even if you follow the Sex Matters’ suggestions. As mentioned in a recent discussion I featured with the barrister Akua Reindorf ( https://dustymasterson.substack.com/p/lesbians-rendered-invisible?utm_source=publication-search ) don’t forget that the Judgment is the law. The Guidance is not the law though must be taken into account by organisations when applying the law.
The Sex Matters case briefings are also extremely useful.
Do also write to your MP - I have written to mine though I now have a backlog of some 6 issues I have written to her about which she has not responded to ( she is Labour). Is she avoiding me? Probably 😄 Will I give up? No 😎
Please also note that the next Sex Matters video premieres on Friday at 19.00 GMT. See some of you in the chat I hope 😊
On this day four years ago, Maya Forstater won her employment appeal tribunal, establishing that “gender-critical” belief – that sex is real, immutable and important – is “worthy of respect in a democratic society”. The judgment has been used by people all over the UK to push back against trans ideology in their workplaces, both informally (we hear all the time from supporters who have managed to stop workplace harassment and censorship by telling their employers about the case) and in courts – we know of at least 33 cases that have cited the precedent.
Our new case briefings summarise the Forstater case and all the important cases that have followed, and we are adding updates and new cases as they happen. The briefings are a practical resource for anyone dealing with issues around sex and the law, to help you fight back – with facts, courage and the law on your side.
Because the fight is by no means over. Here’s how you can help this week….
First: if you haven’t already, respond to the EHRC’s consultation on its revised code of practice for service providers TODAY. Here’s our guide on what to do if you have ten minutes, 20 minutes or longer to respond.
Second, email your MP to say that you support the Supreme Court judgment in the case of For Women Scotland. Many people are seeking to create confusion about the ruling, saying that it is too complicated and difficult to implement, or that employers and service providers should wait for further guidance before changing policies based on gender self-ID. MPs need to hear from their constituents that they welcome the judgment and its legal clarity. Use our tool and template copy to send an email.
And lastly, set a reminder for Friday 7pm, when we’ll be premiering the second of our podcast series, featuring Helen Joyce interviewing Maya Forstater about sex and the law. They discuss how the law became such a muddle, the role of digital identities in fixing it – and, of course, why establishing that gender-critical beliefs are WORIADS was such an important part of the fightback. Watch the trailer now and click the bell icon to set a notification for the premiere.
If you haven’t already seen last week’s episode featuring Fiona McAnena talking about sex and sport, you can watch it now, or listen on Spotify.
See you on Friday at 7pm!

Dusty - please do let us know if you manage to send in a response to the EHRC or if you have any comments on the Sex Matters guidance.
Maya Forstater
Excellent interview with Maya on Rational Voices With Sunil:
London School of Economics Conference.
I did a Masters at LSE while I was a dustman many moons ago to keep my brain active, so I was delighted to see that LSE hosted a conference on the Supreme Court judgment.
Naomi Cunningham said that the uncertainty of recent years had been lifted and it was now clear that sex meant biological sex for the purposes of the Equality Act 2010.
Akua Reindorf said that some of the hysterical response from trans rights activists was due to misinformation ( some put about by organisations such as Stonewall) that self ID was actually in place. She talked of an unfortunate comment by Lord Sumption (retired Supreme Court judge) and how, in terms of services, it was clearly a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim to have single sex spaces for women.
Ben Cooper ( who acted for Sex Matters in their intervention) explained that excluding biological men from single sex spaces is not ‘gender reassignment discrimination’ and that the Supreme Court had dealt with arguments about human rights contrary to what some trans rights activists have been saying. He did not think that any attempt to go to the European Court of Human Rights had any chance of getting anywhere.
Criminal barrister, Sarah Vine felt that there was no chance now of the Government succeeding in introducing a conversion practices bill ( I was delighted to hear this view!!).
Also in response to a question from Helen Joyce, it was felt that there was now no point in social or medical ‘transition’ because what would that achieve for you? Another interesting point!
All thoughts gratefully received.

In recent videos, EDI Jester has been raising the alarm over the enormous funding available to UK Research and Information - see my report here:

He continues his investigation here ( and will be continuing further so watch out for further videos):
Australia - Re Devin
I reported on this extremely important case here:
https://dustymasterson.substack.com/p/the-fiction-of-gender-dysphoria
OK, my headline might have been a bit over optimistic! Spiked have now done an excellent piece on this case.

New Zealand - Corina Shields
Very interesting interview covering a large range of issues on the channel Common Ground with Maori campaigner and member of Mana Wāhine Kōrero ( a group which includes, among others, Di and Rex Landy), Corina Shields. She explains how the so called Maori political party, Te Pāti Māori do not represent Maori in her opinion and do not do a good job at all. She talks about the impact of what happened at Albert Park in 2023 (she was present with her husband and others). I’m sure most if not all of my readers remember Albert Park but, just in case, I reported on it here:
https://dustymasterson.substack.com/p/with-the-kiwi-women
All thoughts on Corina’s interview gratefully received and thanks to our friend, Katrina Biggs for bringing it to our attention.
