Thanks to a reader for suggesting No 2 in The Western Season.
One of the all time classic westerns! As usual we always like the lone hero ( albeit we are non-violent, of course) but I think this film has much more resonance than that for us - I will return to that once I give you an idea of the plot.
In Hadleyville, a small town in New Mexico, in 1898, Marshal Will Kane ( played by Gary Cooper), newly married to Amy (Grace Kelly), prepares to retire. The happy couple will soon depart for a new life: to raise a family and run a store in another town. However, word arrives that Frank Miller (Ian MacDonald), a vicious outlaw whom Kane sent to prison, has been released and will arrive by the noon train, one day ahead of the new marshal. Miller's gang—his younger brother Ben, Jack Colby, and Jim Pierce—await his arrival at the train station.
For Amy, a devout Quaker and pacifist, the solution is simple—leave town before Miller arrives—but Kane's sense of duty and honour make him stay. Besides, he says, Miller and his gang would hunt him down anyway.
Marshal Kane tries to get together men to support him but nobody will come forward and, therefore, he is left to deal with the final showdown on his own. This is where the resonance comes in - look at the situation of Glinner where the comedians he was friends with, who he worked with or who got employment from him are failing to come forward and support him. Spoiler alert. The clip below is the final shoot out.
Am I going mad or does someone shout ‘cut’ at the end of the clip 😎
OK, ok, here is the theme tune ( can you recognise the very young actor, who went on to star in the Dollars Trilogy, in the still below?) 😀
Thanks as ever to two wonderful readers for suggested pieces.
I think I’m all talked out on the election!!! Just don’t vote Labour, Terven!!

The Equality and Human Rights Commission
More bad news in this Academy of Ideas pre-election day podcast. From about 2:20 in this recording Baroness Claire Fox reveals that Labour’s Harriet Harman is likely to take over from Baroness Falkner as director of the EHRC. Ms Harman is a well known supporter of so called ‘trans rights’. Another own goal by the Tories since, if they had still been in government in November, when Baroness Falkner’s contract came up for renewal , it is known that Kemi Badenoch, the Equalities Minister, would have renewed her contract. When Harriet Harman was legal officer for the National Council for Civil Liberties ( which later became Liberty) between 1978 and 1982, the NCCL had links to the Paedophile Information Exchange.
The Brave Nurses
Kellie-Jay celebrates the nurses who are taking a case against the National Health Service for letting a larping man into their changing room.
In Scotland, another nurse takes action!!
Kate Foster in The Mail Online ( NHS chiefs suspended female worker after she complained about sharing changing room with trans woman in row which has sparked concerns among women's rights groups 01 July) reports:
A female worker is suing a Scottish NHS board after she was suspended from her job for complaining about having to share a changing room with a trans woman [ Dusty - MAN FFS!!].
The staff member, who has not been named, is taking legal action against NHS Fife over the incident, which has sparked concerns amongst women’s rights groups.
She was said to have been in a changing room late at night last year when a trans woman colleague started to undress in front of her.
After she complained, she was suspended for three months in January.
Although she has now returned to work, a disciplinary investigation into the matter by the health board is ongoing.
Alba Party MP Neale Hanvey
The case was raised by the Alba Party’s Cowdenbeath and Kirkcaldy candidate, Neale Hanvey, who described her treatment as ‘utterly scandalous’.
Mr Hanvey said the woman had felt ‘intimidated and embarrassed,’ but her colleague had maintained they had a right to be there.
The trans woman also complained and the female member of staff was suspended from work with a probe launched into the incident.
NHS organisations allow transgender staff to use the toilets and changing rooms which align with their gender identity. Prohibiting this may be a breach of the Equality Act which protects the rights of trans people, although the act does afford some provisions for possible exemptions concerning single-sex spaces.
But the woman has objected on the grounds of her own privacy and dignity being violated. She has also complained that the trans woman has been allowed to use the changing facility without consultation with the other women who use it.
Mr Hanvey, who was still an MP when the case first emerged, referred the suspended health worker to charity Sex Matters.
He said: ‘This has been an unimaginably difficult case for the woman concerned and is utterly scandalous.
‘I have been a strong supporter of women’s rights prior to and during my time as the local MP.
‘The woman came to me for help and support.’

SEEN Publishing
Great to see the increasing number of Sex Equality and Equity Networks (SEEN) in organisations. These networks are fighting against the gender madness.
Thanks as ever to Feminist Legal Clinic.
The Bookseller – News – Publishing network launches for those ‘concerned about the impact of gender ideology’ (30 June)
A publishing network for those “concerned about the impact of gender ideology on our sector and wider society” has launched for publishing professionals, authors and creatives.
SEEN Publishing is currently on X/Twitter (@SEENPublishing) and LinkedIn (SEEN in Publishing), though it is not yet known who is behind the network or if they will remain anonymous. Similarly, the number of members so far is as yet unknown.
However, in a statement, the network said its members “believe in the material reality of sex” and “value diversity of thought and freedom of expression”.
It goes on: “We believe that everyone in publishing should be able to express legally held views on sex and gender, including where these views relate to publishing-sector decisions, free from fear, harassment, discrimination, and negative career repercussions.”
A process for screening new members is in place, the network said, and membership is confidential. The Bookseller understands that a Substack is also forthcoming.
The network is the latest “SEEN” group to launch with others established in other industries such as the Police SEEN UK and SEEN in Schools.
Ball Boys and Ball Girls
Lovely to see a major organisation making a sensible decision on the gender front.
Luke Power in The Daily Mail ( Wimbledon 'refuses to bow down to gender-neutral terms for ball boys and girls'... as historic tennis tournament wins praise for snubbing generic 'ball kids' tag adopted by other Grand Slams 30 June) reports:
Wimbledon will continue to name their courtside assistants 'ball boys and ball girls' despite pressure to adopt gender-neutral terms.
The French and Australian Open label their helpers 'ball kids' while at the US open the all-age sidekicks are called 'ball crew'.
The All England club said on Saturday that there are no plans to change the titles, as per The Guardian, and they have continued to use them in any relevant digital build-up to the tournament which stars on Monday.
Around 250 children with an average age of 15 are chosen each year from a pool of 1,000 applicants to assist at the All England Club.

The BBC's Big Pharma-connected medical editor blocks questions on WPATH coverage
JUN 30, 2024
When I said to Sarah Smith on my infamous Newsnight interview that Nazis and trans activists had in common that they both enjoyed experimenting on kids, Smith treated me like I had lost my mind. But the #WPATHFiles revealed the shocking truth of that even before the Cass Review. This was an ideological, radicalised group of men conducting hormonal and surgical experiments on children, adolescents and vulnerable adults.
The documents revealed that WPATH members have been administering irreversible treatments to patients, including minors and those with severe mental health issues, without fully informed consent. The significance of the disclosures within the files is immense, especially after the Cass Report slammed the weak evidence base for ‘gender affirming’ treatments and called for more caution.
On March 5, 2024, a concerned member of the public—formerly a senior media professional—sent the WPATH Files to Fergus Walsh, the BBC’s Medical Editor. The files also contained damning information, including admissions from WPATH members, about the harm caused by their treatments and the influence of non-medical trans activists.
Despite the gravity and the urgency of the situation, Walsh did not respond. Six days later, on the 11th March, the same individual tried to send an email summarizing key points from an interview with Mia Hughes, the author of the WPATH report, only to discover that their address had been blocked.
But there’s more. It turns out that Walsh is married to Dr. Véronique Walsh, the vice president of Gilead Sciences UK and Ireland. Gilead Sciences is a pharmaceutical company that set up a $4.5 million fund to “to improve the safety, health, and wellness of the transgender community, particularly in light of the disproportionate impact of HIV on transgender individuals”.
See also what Andrew Doyle says above about asking the BBC to cover the WPATH Files.

Cass In Australia
There is a problem with getting Cass implemented in Australia. Thanks again to FLC.
Gender affirmative guidelines just an echo chamber: expert ( 03 July)
Dr Cass, a former president of the UK’s Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, participated in a panel live from the UK on Tuesday night, which was hosted by Australian psychiatrist Phillip Morris, the president of the National Association of Practising Psychiatrists, one of the first bodies to call for caution on experimental medical treatments and greater wholistic psychotherapy for young people with gender distress.
Dr Cass criticised the activist World Professional Association for Transgender Healthcare for essentially suppressing evidence that the standards of care it devised were not evidence-based and showed no proof of alleviating the distress of children.
These standards are followed by most of Australia’s major children’s hospitals that all frequently prescribe puberty blockers and hormone treatments to children and teenagers. Dr Cass noted in her independent report handed down in April that has been “highly influential in directing international practice, although its guidelines were found by the University of York’s appraisal to lack developmental rigour and transparency”. The Cass report included an appraisal by the University of York that analysed international gender affirmative care guidelines, including those of the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne. The review found its guidelines similarly lacked rigour and independence.
“The evidence base is weak … international guidelines have for the most part not followed standard evidence-based approaches,” Dr Cass told the Australian seminar. “And it has influenced most other international guidelines. There is a sort of echo chamber of sort of copying and pasting off each other. The only guidelines that have taken an independent and evidence based approach are the Swedish and the Finnish guidelines.”
All of Australia’s children’s hospitals including most of the country’s state health ministers have rejected the relevance of Dr Cass’s report to Australia for reasons that appear spurious given the fact that Dr Cass’s report examined gender affirming care models internationally, and that the deep research carried out by the independent review into puberty blockers is clearly relevant beyond the UK.

Gender Ideology in the States
Kitty Finesse on her substack Down The Rabbit Hole discusses how Biden and Trump approach gender ideology ( insofar as Biden is capable of approaching anything!!).
What the debate left unsaid
All about gender ideology
JUL 02, 2024
Unless you live under a rock, I’m sure you watched or at least heard about Thursday’s presidential debate on CNN. I won’t get into the details here but suffice it to say, Trump was right when he joked he could openly kill someone and his numbers would go up.
Yet one highly contentious topic of paramount importance was not discussed: the proliferation of gender cult ideology to the most vulnerable members of society. This is because CNN, as a liberal corporate media outlet, doesn’t see gender ideology as a problem. In this article, I’ll highlight why they’re wrong by outlining Biden’s position, Trump’s position, my own, and finally, how the left could potentially proceed.

STOP PRESS ENDPIECE
#BeMorePorcupine
Dear readers
I have added in a Stop Press Endpiece. Enjoy 😊
Dusty
I watched High Noon as a kid on our black and white television; I thought what a hero Gary Cooper was. I noticed Lee Van Cleef & Lloyd Bridges, too and, yes, I heard ‘cut’. You draw a great comparison with the sheriff and Glinner’s treatment by cowardly so-called friends & colleagues.
Harriet Harman as Chair of the EHRC? I’ll never forget her part in the NCCL’s attempt to defend PIE in the 70s. She’s a trans handmaid & would be a disaster.
Up the nurses! I hope they take the NHS to the cleaners. Neale Hanvey is a great supporter of women; I hope he gets re-elected.
The BBC is a disgrace; it’s fully captured by gender woo woo, EDI & activists.
Great to see David Tennant being eviscerated by Kemi Badenoch & Leo Kearse; what an ignorant tosser!
These SEEN groups are a great idea. I hope there’ll be more of them soon. As for the IOPC, I await with interest what they’ll do next.
The scandal of Gilead & the BBC…it really is a scandal. How do they get away with it?
Love Barry & Freda & Menno’s parody was excellent. Thanks a bunch, Dusty, for all your hard work. Enjoy the wedding. 💜🤍💚
PS my spines are growing sharper as I try to #BeMorePorcupine.
