The For Women Scotland Judgment - The Aftermath
On her substack, Kellie-Jay continues the discussion of the aftermath and what happens next.
Will woman still mean woman?

Why Repealing the GRA, Ripping Up the Equality Act, and Leaving the ECHR Is the Only Way to Defend Sex-Based Rights
It’s been a long, exhausting battle, but we finally had a win: the UK Supreme Court ruled that woman means adult human female, and sex means biological reality, not identity or inner vibes. Common sense prevailed—for now.
But don’t get too comfortable. Because if I were a rabid TRA (trans rights activist) with a legal brain and a taste for legal warfare, I’d know exactly where to go next: Strasbourg, home of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
Why? Because our entire mess with “legal sex” began there, in a little case called Goodwin v United Kingdom (2002). If you're wondering why a man with a penis can get a certificate calling him a woman, and then demand entry into your daughter’s changing room, that’s the root of it all.

My feeling on all this is as follows:
I think the only people that could possibly appeal the judgment to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) were the Scottish Ministers and/or Amnesty International and they are clearly not going to do that. Larping former judge Victoria McCloud applied to intervene in the case and was refused permission so he does not have a snowball’s chance in hell of being given permission to appeal to the ECHR. I note his barrister is Jolyon Maugham, renowned for losing cases. So I think the Supreme Court judgment is safe and we do not have to worry about any ECHR challenge. I hope I’m right!!
Despite that I totally agree that we need to get out of the European Convention ( and thus out of the ECHR) - we want our laws to be under the Supreme Court not some supra national court.
I think the Equality Act should be radically amended as opposed to appealed: get rid of gender reassignment as a protected characteristic; seriously narrow down positive discrimination so that it only applies , for example, where a rape crisis centre or women’s refuge needs to restrict job applicants to women for obvious reasons.
We need to get rid of the concept of ‘proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim’ when it comes to women’s single sex spaces ( this does not apply anyway to workplaces and schools due to separate regulations).
Given the threats by certain larping men to defy the judgment I think it should be made an offence for men to deliberately enter women’s single sex spaces.
All thoughts gratefully encouraged!!!
Aside from that American podcaster, Glenna Goldis on the site Gender-Critical Law Society interviews Peter Daly who was the solicitor for the lesbian interveners in the Supreme Court case. They look at his previous cases including Maya Forstater’s case, a case for civil servant Eleanor Frances and Mermaids v LGB Alliance. He praises Tribunal Tweets and discusses Jolyon Maugham! They end with a discussion of the Supreme Court case itself.
Queer Month
June is Queer Month….sorry, Pride Month…no, stick with Queer Month!!
On a recent update I explained what we will be doing on this substack during June:

Organisers of the main four Pride events in England have declared that they will not be accepting any donations from any political parties. Barry Wall has great fun with this wonderful example of shooting yourself in the foot.
Grooming Gangs and The Medicalisation of Children
Excellent analogy drawn by Stella O’Malley on her substack between the Grooming Gangs Scandal and the medicalisation of confused children.
When the Truth Is Uncomfortable – and We Want to Look Away
Both the UK grooming scandals and the medicalisation of ROGD teens highlight how the visceral reality of body horror drives us to turn away from deeply unsettling truths.
May 09, 2025

It’s striking how two seemingly unrelated issues can sometimes reveal the same deep-rooted problems in society. On the one hand there are the UK grooming gang scandals – horrifying crimes, ignored for decades, involving networks of Pakistani Muslim men who targeted vulnerable teenage girls. On the other, there’s the sudden explosion of teenagers, particularly girls, identifying as trans – many of whom are suffering irreversible harm as a consequence of inappropriate medical transition. At first glance you may not think these two crises have much in common, but scratch the surface and a disturbing pattern emerges.
In both cases, the adults in charge looked the other way. Institutions minimised. Social workers made the wrong calls. Mental health professionals rarely helped – and often caused harm. Journalists stayed silent. Officials deflected. Very few people in positions of authority had the courage to confront the shocking reality, and those who did were labelled as bigots.
Meanwhile parents’ pleas were ignored and dismissed as either “Islamophobic” or “transphobic” depending on the context. And because the parents found no societal support when they needed it, their children became out of control and their lives were ruined.
At a conference in the US earlier this year, I found myself facing blank stares when I mentioned the parallels between girls caught up in the grooming gang scandal and teenagers swept up in the world of rapid-onset gender dysphoria. One delegate pushed back, insisting that victims never feel glad to be targeted while plenty of ROGD kids say they are happy with their medical transition. But sadly, that’s not true. Many of the targets of grooming gangs believed their abusers were their boyfriends. Just like many ROGD teens, they felt flattered by the attention and even encouraged their friends to join in what they saw as fun. The gifts, the glamour, the sense of being wanted – it all had a powerful pull. Quite a number went as far as converting to Islam and marrying their abusers.

Oh no! Not Queer Month again. Will no one rid us of these narcissists? As Mia Hughes says “ bring back shame” and banish them back to their seedy bedrooms. Thanks Dusty.
