We are now in Terf Month ( to counteract Queer Month) and we are featuring great speeches on the theme of women’s rights. Please keep those suggestions coming in. Please send a link if you can. Thanks to those readers who have already sent in great suggestions.

There is a lot of stuff to bring you, dear readers, so I am splitting this into two parts.

Today we are featuring the speech of Catherine Robilliard at Let Women Speak Exeter. It is at 1:04:30 in the video. The heading is based on one of the stickers she stuck on the women erasing posters she saw in the hospital where she was being treated for cancer. Thanks to Catherine for allowing us to use this excellent speech.

Catherine writes:

The more I think about it the more I realise that interview was probably illegal. I wasn’t wearing my hearing aids, I was naked underneath my gown and placed opposite a male security guard with a body-cam. Prior to a radiotherapy session you have to fully relax; holding your breath staying perfectly still for 20 seconds; it isn’t easy. I went straight into radiotherapy after the interview and suffered an asthma attack caused by stress.

My health, safety and dignity, and life saving radiotherapy treatment, seemed to mean nothing to that Head of Security - a woman. Her anger and loathing of me was palpable. She first said “I’ve called the police” and I kept waiting for them to arrive. I almost passed out during the “interview” the room was too hot and on Letrozole I can’t control my temperature.

A nurse at the hospital contacted me afterwards; staff had been told my “graffiti” was too awful and transphobic to repeat. She told me the female Head of Security at the hospital was following orders from her male boss, the chief Head of Security. I asked her to show the nurses my video and she replied that she would.

Interestingly a Consultant apparently stood by me, and took my side. I shall just give her first name Maria. I think she was the reason my treatment was allowed to continue, and is still ongoing.

“Banter bouncers” latest

A cross-party group of peers, including me, took to the floor of the Lords in May to fight Clause 20 of the Employment Rights Bill. This draconian proposal would make employers legally liable for the non-sexual “harassment” of their employees by third parties. If it’s passed, workers could sue if they so much as overhear a joke, comment or political opinion from a member of the public and decide to take offence by virtue of a ‘protected’ characteristic.

The implications of an unamended Clause 20 are both farcical and far-reaching – including pubs having to hire “banter bouncers” to eavesdrop on conversations.

This is why the peers opposing the clause have tabled a number of amendments either to scrap it completely or to make it a bit more reasonable. One would mean employers wouldn’t be liable for political, moral, religious or social views overheard by their employees – or communicated to them directly – unless those views are grossly offensive. Another would exempt pubs, sports venues and universities – places where informal speech should never be chilled by the threat of litigation. A third would make employers liable only when speech is actually directed at an employee.

The FSU launched its ‘Say No To The Banter Ban’ campaign earlier this month at The Speaker pub in Westminster. Billed as “possibly one of the last times you can enjoy a pint and a laugh before Clause 20 takes effect”, the event saw well over 100 people – among them, MPs, peers and senior political journalists – raise a glass in support of our fight to protect pubs from this costly and profoundly illiberal measure. In addition to speeches from the Shadow Business Minister Greg Smith and Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick, we were treated to a speech in defence of Clause 20 from Angela Rayner – or, rather, a performance from the satirist and comedian Intel Lady who does a wicked impression of the Deputy Prime Minister.

I’d like to thank all of you who became part of the campaign by using our quick-write tool to email a peer. We’re delighted than more than 2,000 emails were sent. We will be resurrecting that tool in a few weeks time when the Bill enters the Report stage in the House of Lords and the amendments are retabled.

Banned teenage footballer breaks her silence

Eighteen year-old footballer Cerys Vaughan has spoken publicly for the first time about her long ordeal – and eventual victory – after being given a six-match ban by Lancashire FA for asking a trans opponent with a beard: “Are you a man?” The FSU supported Cerys and her family throughout, funding her legal representation and helping to get the ban overturned on appeal.

Before now, Cerys had been afraid to break her silence amid the threat of a backlash. But this month’s announcement by the FA barring trans women from the female game – following the Supreme Court ruling on biological sex – convinced her it was finally safe to come forward.

In an interview with Telegraph Sport, Cerys spoke of her relief at the appeal verdict – but also of how she’s “definitely” owed an apology from Lancashire FA. As for the national FA, “I think they’re cowards. They shouldn’t have waited for a Supreme Court ruling to change their rules if they knew it was wrong the whole time.”

Cerys’s belief that she’d never have won without the support she received was echoed by her mother Lynda.

“I can see why people give up,” Lynda told the Telegraph. “And, if it wasn’t for Fiona [McAnena] at Sex Matters and the Free Speech Union, we would definitely have given up somewhere along the way, because they do try to make it as difficult as possible for you to go up against them. They bury everything in language and rules… designed to confuse ordinary people like us, who’ve never dealt with anything like that before.”

Shocking development in Linzi Smith case

FSU member Linzi Smith is a lifelong Newcastle United supporter and advocate for LGB rights. But in 2024 she was banned from the club’s stadium and covertly investigated by the Premier League for the ‘crime’ of expressing gender-critical views.

Since launching a crowdfunder, with our help, to fight the case, Linzi has raised nearly £50,000.

But now there’s been a deeply troubling development.

Newcastle United has accused her of “deliberate obfuscation” in her crowdfunding campaign, claiming it’s “fundamentally misleading” to say she was banned for believing “biological sex is important and real”. Instead, the club tells her lawyers, “the reason for your client’s ban remains the three tweets… one of which makes an exceptionally offensive comparison with Nazism”.

Linzi’s posts reflect her concern about the real-world effects of gender ideology. Yes, some were poorly worded. But so what? Not everyone can write like Kathleen Stock. More importantly, these beliefs are protected in law, as the FSU’s legal team makes clear in her pre-action letter, which Linzi (who, far from trying to mislead, has been scrupulously transparent) has published in full here.

In a particularly vindictive move, Newcastle is also threatening to make Linzi pay its legal costs if she loses. All the more reason to contribute to her crowdfunder.

But this case isn’t just about Linzi. What’s at stake is not only one football fan’s right to attend matches, but the broader principle that individuals should be free to express lawful beliefs without institutional retribution.

Dr Chrysostom is an NHS whistleblower who has 25 years of experience working in the NHS in Accident & Emergency medicine. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and an accredited ATLS instructor with the RCS London. He has spent the last two years writing letters about 'gender affirming care' to many professional bodies, including his Health Board, the General Medical Council, NHS England, the Welsh government, the Health Care Inspectorate of Wales, the Royal College of Surgeons in London, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the Royal College of Physicians, the Royal College of Anaesthetists, the Ombudsman, and the Prime Minister.

Q: When did you start to become concerned about ‘gender affirming care’ and what alerted you to this issue?

A: For more than a year, I came across parents of patients who were in the process of being referred to gender clinics for so called “’gender affirming care.” These are mostly patients who are in the adolescent age group who have not completed their adolescence. (Adolescence is defined as between 10 and 24 by Oxford Handbook of Pediatrics, 3rd Ed.)

These are patients with normal human anatomy who are biologically male and female. They also have a normal genito-urinary physiology with no congenital anomalies nor endocrine dysfunction according to their parents. They are supposedly suffering from a mental health condition called “gender dysphoria”, also called “gender incongruence”. Many of them have underlying mental illnesses such as: depression, anxiety, autism, obsessive compulsive disorders etc. Many of these youth, in my opinion, are encouraged to believe through social media indoctrination, that they are born in the wrong body. There is no scientific basis for such an ideology.

Because of my concerns, I researched the operations that are being carried out on these naive adolescents. I find these operations disturbing and without appropriate indication. The mental health condition called gender dysphoria that is described in the DSM-5 psychiatry manual is in the mind of the person and the treatment should be directed towards mental health issues and not with cross sex hormones and/or surgery.

Australia - Moira Deeming

I have reported many times on Moira Deeming’s case since she attended the Let Women Speak rally in Melbourne where a random group of (supposed) Nazis turned up nearby and Moira who was a Liberal MP was accused by her party leader, John Pesutto of being involved with Nazis and expelled from the party. She was successful in her defamation case against Mr Pesutto. My latest update was here:

Deadline to pay: Deeming moves to bankrupt Pesutto (02 June)

Lawyers for Moira Deeming have launched bankruptcy proceedings against former Victorian Liberal leader John Pesutto over his failure to pay court-ordered costs.

Mr Pesutto now has 21 days to pay the debt in full or negotiate a payment plan, or risk being declared bankrupt – a move that would force him from parliament and trigger a high-stakes by-­election in the marginal seat of Hawthorn.

If declared bankrupt, Mr Pesutto would be ineligible to serve as an MP and plunge the state Liberals into further turmoil by placing his electorate at risk of falling to Labor.

One-third of the $2.3m has been raised so far, including $200,000 from online crowd-funding and $500,000 that Mr Pesutto has secured privately.

Former Victorian premier Jeff Kennett issued a last-ditch plea to the Liberal Party’s administrative committee to consider loaning Mr Pesutto the funds so he can avoid bankruptcy.

The escalation comes after the NSW property developer who bankrolled Mrs Deeming’s legal fees, Hilton Grugeon, pledged to pay whatever it took to pursue Mr Pesutto’s donors – including three former Victorian premiers – should he be unable to pay his costs bill.

The Australian revealed last week that a letter from Mrs Deeming’s lawyers had flagged seeking non-party cost orders against those who donated to Mr Pesutto’s failed defence should he declare bankruptcy.

In a letter published last week, Mrs Deeming said the decision to initiate bankruptcy proceedings was not one she took lightly. “My goal is simple: to ensure I am reimbursed so I can repay that loan, as I promised I would,” she said. “After being falsely accused of bigotry, of knowingly associating with Nazis – claims the court found to be defamatory – I faced a torrent of public and private abuse, including rape threats, stalking and personal and professional humili­ation and isolation. Sadly, I was not the only innocent woman who suffered as a result of the campaign to expel me.[ Dusty - Kellie-Jay Keen and Aussie Terf Angie Jones had previously settled their defamation cases against Mr Pesutto].

“This moment should never have come to pass. Since it has, let it stand as a reckoning – not just for one individual, but for a culture of political brutality that must end.

“No man is above the law.”

Greetings to all our friends, families and supporters

We are humbled and heartened by the support we are receiving from all around the world. So many women (and some men) who realise how important it is that we continue our fight to be accepted and respected for who we are – same sex attracted women. We are also fighting for everyone’s right to have their opinions and beliefs about gender and gender identity respected as reasonable, rather than labelled as bigoted, hateful and harmful simply because they are different from theirs.

An Important Announcement

June is the last full month before our hearing in the Human Rights Review Tribunal begins.

We have now raised $40,000 of the $100,000 total we are estimating it will cost us to take the case.

Thanks to the generosity of one of our supporters we are able to offer a significant incentive for June donations.

For the month of June, all donations received, up to a total value of $30,000 will be doubled. If you donate $5 our supporter will also donate $5. If you donate $100 our supporter will also donate $100.

LAVA is taking Wellington Pride to the Human Rights Review Tribunal alleging that Pride has breached the New Zealand Human Rights Act.

The Human Rights Act protects us, as same sex attracted women, from discrimination, and also protects our political beliefs.

In their defence, Pride has taken the approach that we are a group whose beliefs are so hateful, bigoted and harmful to trans people that we have no right to any form of legal protection. They on the other hand, say they practice inclusivity and diversity and respect for all. They will always “show up and speak up for our community, to ensure safety and representation for all.” (refer to their website https://www.wellingtonpridefestival.com/terms-of-service-1)

The evidence says otherwise.

They seem to genuinely miss the contradictions in these words and statements. There is no safety or representation or inclusion for anyone who holds a different view of gender, for anyone who believes a woman is an adult human female or anyone who believes that lesbians are same sex attracted women. It is not hateful to expect that our rights to same sex protections should be addressed by the laws passed for exactly this purpose. They do not seem to understand that difference is not hateful, and that to talk respectfully about differences is fundamental for living in a pluralistic society.

We of course deny the allegations that we are hateful, and our views are harmful. We find it interesting that it is only our views that they consider harmful. If they truly believed that, then they would have to accept that their views of us are also harmful. They deny who we are, and they deny our right to identify ourselves as lesbians, same sex attracted adult human females. They claim the right to identify themselves as they wish but deny us the same right.

In reality it is not we who are hateful. It is they who demonstrated hatred and bigotry towards us at our protest against Wellington Pride excluding us from their Fair, with placards such as ‘fuck terf cunts’ and ‘terfs fuck off’, and so on. You can see photos of these placards on our website should you wish. www.lava.nz/ourcase LAVA placards on the other hand have never been more than simple statements of our beliefs: ‘biology is real’, ‘woman is not a feeling’ and so on. At the demonstration mentioned above, we had a banner with a lesbian symbol and another with the word PRIDE and a lesbian symbol. Nothing else.

In what universe could that be considered hateful or harmful?

And just in case you’ve forgotten, the opinions we hold, which Wellington Pride and its expert witnesses have alleged are not worthy of legal protection because they are so bigoted, hateful and harmful, are that people can’t change sex, lesbians (and gay men) are same sex attracted and that there are times when sex (as in biology) matters.

Medical tourism in Iran is booming. Revenue from those who visit the country for medical treatment is already worth over a billion US dollars.

Now a new national plan aims to boost this foreign currency life-line. Last month Health Minister Mohammad-Reza Zafarghandi announced the Islamic Republic aims to bring in a jaw-dropping six billion dollars a year.

This means it’s boom-time for the country’s proliferating private clinics which offer “gender reassignment surgery”.

I’ve written before about Ayatollah Khomeini’s early embrace of trans ideology and his advocacy of “sex change surgery”. Now I want to tell you how this led to the creation of a vast medical infrastructure in Iran that enacts the regime’s hatred for homosexuals on a daily basis. One now primed with rocket fuel to exploit vulnerable lesbians and gay men across the Middle East.

It’s an extraordinary story peopled by characters so gothic they make the morally bankrupt world of “gender affirming healthcare” in the West look almost tame. Take the country’s leading genital butcher. When he’s not performing “gender reassignment surgery” he performs across Iran…. as a crooner.

Iran’s treatment of gender dysphoria isn’t some anthropological curiosity. It offers us a uniquely honest glimpse into the inner workings of “gender affirming healthcare” everywhere. Elsewhere gender clinicians and trans activists have to disguise their motivations and mangle the language of social justice to mislead institutions.

In Iran all this dissembling about liberal values is dispensed with. Here medics do what their colleagues do in the West but without any distracting residue of shame. Here bigotry enables doctors to turn the tenets of trans ideology into a clinical gay-hate conveyor-belt.

One of the most homophobic nations in the world holds up a mirror to the tragedy unfolding in gender clinics across the West.
