Presumably Amnesty International UK employ lawyers? You would think they at least would know and understand the scope of effects of UK legislation which brought it in line with the Articles of the ECHR as long ago as 2005.
This stopped being about Human Rights in 2010 when the Blairites ramped through the Equality Act and became about ideologically dismantling societal norms.

Ona separate point I would like to see the EqA substantially amended and I'm not sure what to do about Article 8 (private and family life and home) in the HRA. Bizarrely I think article 8 could be at the forefront of a challenge to the Conversion Practices Bill.
TBH I think the EqA could be repealed and then and act to reinstate the previous protective acts. Sure there was the opportunity for the odd bigot to be a dick but by and large people were fairly descent. Sex discrimination was still unlawful as was disability and race discrimination.
The UK could withdraw from the ECHR but the Human Rights Act 1998 would need amending to limit it to UK Citizens and then define Family as Spouse, Civil Partner and children of the marriage/partnership only. There should also be a condition inserted giving the Home Secretary powers to circumvent in defined circumstances.
